    How it might have started

It's a Morris Marina, my dad used to have one too, long since turned to rust, probably after one of the wheels fell off when he was driving it... :S (dunno whose this one is, it's a picture I found on the web)

    Hoover Junior Belt Guard

Yeah, you need the belt guard spring in order to keep it in place, this is a bit pricey, but this is what you need: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370601575995

    Original Cord vs. Replacement Cord

Well, only Rover thought their V8 was reliable, especially if it was the 3.5L... :P Plus it was based on a rejected GM V8 engine (too small for the US market, apparently), and they're not terribly reliable either... :P

    Original Cord vs. Replacement Cord

"I bet you'll be more careful when doing any other w Nah, it's a Creda, it's lasted about 10-12 (possibly more cos I don't actually know how old it is) years with only a replaced door hinge and new carbon brushes (and new fill hoses, but that's cos the mother's ex destroyed the old ones by...

    Oreck Buster B Canister

That the two black wires, separate them and connect them to the switch (either with spade plugs or by soldering them directly on), simple as that...

    Original Cord vs. Replacement Cord

"It isn't painful, just a strange numbing sensation. I'd dispute that, when I was repairing the motor in the washing machine, I placed my hand on the motor to make sure it wasn't getting hot after replacing the carbon brushes, and I managed to place one of my fingers onto one of the contacts...

    Help!!!

I think given that it happened a couple of weeks ago, it should be dry by now... :P

    Help!!!

Erm, mr. Morgan, given that a Sanitaire is a dirty-fan vac, and that no water would actually get into the electrics, then it wouldn't be dead just cos it sucked up water...

    Original Cord vs. Replacement Cord

Personally, I'm not a fan of electric shocks, so I prefer to replace than to stick with ones already fitted if I'm going to use a vac...

I know a proofreader via another forum, and let's just say she's never out of work... :P

    Twocvbloke- Dyson

This is the only forum I use that has a requirement for payment, other forums I use have their own sources of finance, such as advertising, user donations, sponsorship and other non-subscription financial deals, so they don't have to force users into paying if they want basic features that come...

"Surely we should be able to edit posts without paying.. You'd think, but it seems money is more important...

    Twocvbloke- Dyson

There's a looooooong list of what was wrong with Rover, they're rust prone, they're not well built, they're slow, they're rather boring, they break down too easily, I think that covers the basics... :P There have been some okay rovers, at least when they were new, like the SD1 with the V8...

Are Eco-labelled Vacuum Cleaners Worth the Extra Cash brands are selling?

I need to completely rebuild that part of the roof, some muppet used MDF board under cheap roof lining stuff with cheap nails right through it, which soaked up water and sagged, and they added some wood that had about as much structural integrity as strawberry jam, and yesterday, it peeled off...

    Twocvbloke- Dyson

Nope, no car, and I wouldn't have a Rover even if they paid me (not that they could, cos rover is long dead, just like 99% of their cars!!)... :P I haven't got any car videos on my youtube channel (same name as here), just vacs, a narrowboat, cats, and some random bits and pieces... :P And...

    Hoover PurePower PU2120

I had a Hoover Purepower that I salvaged, it had a melted lock thing which connects to the release pedal, it had melted cos the belt had slipped off and came into contact with parts it shouldn't have, a bad design really, and I didn't like how it's 1800w motor dimmed the lights when I tested it...

Are Eco-labelled Vacuum Cleaners Worth the Extra Cash brands are selling?

"So that's why it took you so long to reply eh ?&#34 Nah, I've been doing outdoorsy things, like preventing the badly built shed roof from collapsing under this rain we've been having... :P Don't really think there's much else to add to this thread now, I think all the bases are covered on...

    Royal vs. Kirby vs. Sanitaire

I find Hoover Senior/Convertible belts last longer in my 'taires than the RD belts do, no exploding bearings, no discoloured pulleys, no trashed motors, they work pretty damned well and last a long time... :)

    Twocvbloke- Dyson

£79 with a years warranty, £59 with 3 months warranty... :) They're in a shop in Stanley, Co. Durham, you'd have to find someone other than me to post them as they'd be too fiddly for me to transport (no car, and bus drivers aren't keen on large cargo being brought aboard their buses)... :&#92
