    My Electrolux trio

Nice! I have that same Epic 6500. And, I really like the color of the System 90. Hopefully, it will clean up nice. Seems like a good deal for both of them. I'm sure I would have brought them home too! And, just like you, I'm out of room too.

    1990s Buicks (Regal,Skylark, Ultra,etc)

Wow, David. That looks immaculate! I'm not used to seeing those without their rocker panels completely rotted away. I'm guessing your climate probably helps with that. Our winters are brutal on sheet metal.

    Cats next to vacuun cleaners

Rosalía/Regina Hmmm. You definitely put some thought into that! 🙂 I'm not sure that's the case, though. Louie's not really a big fan of too much human affection. LOL When we first wake up in the morning, he likes his pets. He graciously accepts them, and about purrs his nose off. But, that's...

    Cats next to vacuun cleaners

Great pictures, David! I wish we could have more than one cat at a time. We've shared our home with three, over the years. And, every one of them has been an "only child". The first two definitely did not like other cats around. Louie, our current boy, we don't know for sure. But, he can be very...

    Holiday cleaning??????

Hey John. Good to see you posting! Speaking for myself, the only thing I've been cleaning lately is vacuums. Three of them are Hoovers; one of which, I think I PMd you about.

    Wanted: Hoover Convertible

Hi, Rick! What a great picture! I wish my parents had gotten some pictures of me as a child, using one of our vacuums. But, they weren't really big "picture people". I so hope you're able to find a nice example of that Convertible. What color is it? I don't think I've ever seen a Convertible in...

    Oreck model number (letter) decoding?

Thank you again, my friend! Do you happen to know what the "PDRA" suffix means? With a heavy heart, I put the Panasonic aside and haven't touched it since. I was really looking forward to trying a whole-house vacuuming with that one. I was trying to be very gentle about my attempt to open the...

    Oreck model number (letter) decoding?

And, I've done it again. Another trip to a thrift store, another Oreck followed me home. I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to resist Orecks lately. And, they really don't show up too often around here. I know there isn't a ton of interest in them here, it seems. But, I'm hoping...

    Hoover Lark

Very cool, Tom! Is the chrome or silver neck, between the floor nozzle and the body, correct? I seem to recall ours being painted blue. It's neat that yours was used in a TV show. I'm glad they returned it better than it was, as opposed to damaging it! I'm hoping one will eventually show up at a...

    Hoover Lark

The Lark, as in Doug's photo, and the OP, was the first vacuum that I ever used. (Played with) In my earliest vacuum memories, my family had two of them. I still, to this day, don't know why they had two, nor do I know what became of either of them. Their primary vacuum was a gold and brown...

A Hoover PortaPower joins the hoard

Thanks, Cole. I don't know how well it's going to clean up. I think it's going to be quite a challenge to my abilities. The washer has served us well since we bought this house about 14 years ago. The previous owners left all of the major appliances for us. Unfortunately, the Amana is now on...

A Hoover PortaPower joins the hoard

Here we go again! Does it seem like I’ve been acquiring more vacuums since I said I needed to thin the herd, and not add any more? It feels that way to me. This one, which I’m assuming is circa 1980s, I give myself a pass. It’s one that was owned by family, who no longer wanted it. I can’t let...

    Panasonic straight suction canister

Cool! I think mine has all of the original parts. It just needed a good cleaning, and a new bag. Interestingly enough, it might be possible to get HEPA bags, or something similar, if I were in Australia or possibly New Zealand. I did a Google search, and some five layer, high filtration, better...

    Panasonic straight suction canister

Alex, or anyone else who knows; can you tell me how to take the motor cover off? Is it something that you think I could handle? I've stated it many times...I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I don't want to wreck anything. The vacuum works fine just the way it is. I'd just like to take the...

    Panasonic straight suction canister

Thank you, Alex. I was hoping you'd chime in! Inside the rear grille, which I'm assuming is the exhaust, I can see a foam filter. I'm hoping there's a way that I might be able to access it to wash it. I'd just like to freshen it up a bit. The bag that I took out of the vacuum had some pet odor...

    Oreck XL headlight bulbs

I have no idea, Rob. The only thing I can figure is that the sockets on the 2600 are just ever so slightly tighter than on the other 4070. And, the new bulbs must be ever so slightly larger. Like you said, the quality control probably just ain't what it used to be.

    Panasonic straight suction canister

As promised, here are some pictures. Sorry if they’re not great. The cleaning process is ongoing, so it’s not at its best just yet. And, apparently, the lid won’t close completely unless there’s a bag in it; which there’s not. Does anyone else have one of these? Did I acquire another unicorn or...

    Oreck XL headlight bulbs

Problem solved, I guess Well, on a whim, I decided to pop a bulb out of another of my Orecks, and see if it would fit the problem machine. It did. So, then I tried one of the new bulbs in the other Oreck, and it fit. So, I just swapped them out. The existing, working bulbs are now in the...

    Oreck XL headlight bulbs

Hi, Rob! Not the greatest picture, but here are the bulbs. At the top, are the two burnt out ones that came out of the Oreck. In very tiny print, they’re marked “912”. Below them, are the two new ones, also marked “912”. Holding them up to each other, they appear identical. But, the new ones...

    Panasonic straight suction canister

So far, I've removed the bag full of someone else's dirt and pet hair, and gave the whole thing an initial sanitizing wipe wipe-down. I've learned that it uses C-4 bags. And, a quick interweb search seems to indicate that no HEPA version of that particular bag exists. I'd like to be proven wrong...
