My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

Hey Cole. Thanks. It was a pretty car. And drove like new. The a/c compressor was bad, and I never got around to getting it fixed. Actually, it was the pulley assembly. The compressor itself was probably fine. And, a friend at work gave me a whole, working compressor for it, but I just tossed it...

    Kirby 519

I contacted the seller. I'll probably end up getting it, unless it's a huge mess when I see it in person. Not that it's the biggest problem, but from what I've found online, I'm assuming that the bag isn't original. It's red, and it seems like the 519 had a grey bag. If that's the worst of its...

    Kirby 519

As I've stated ad nauseum, I'm trying to limit my buying, and I'm not a Kirby collector. That being said, as I now have two of them, there's one for sale within easy driving distance from me, and I don't know if it's a good deal. I've been seeing it on Craigslist for a good little while now...

My Mom Vs. A Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 and Chevrolet Impala

It takes me a very long time to accept change; if I ever do. I'm only just now starting to warm up to the front wheel drive Impalas. There have been many Chevrolets in my life, including the first car that I remember my dad owning. That was a 1965 Impala. After that, he got a 1971 Impala. From...

    Kinda trashed Kirby

Alex, Yeah. Knowing me, I'll be keeping it. My only other Kirby is a G4. So, I think it's kind of cool to have a pre-Tech Drive model. The Heritage seems smaller and lighter. Of course, part of that is due to the lack of a nozzle. I found a couple of videos that show replacing the machine end...

    Kinda trashed Kirby

Hey Ben, That's interesting! This one's hose seems to be in good condition, but the plastic part that hooks onto the front of the vacuum is broken. I see just that part listed on eBay. Is that something that can be replaced? I didn't see how it could be removed from the hose.

    Kinda trashed Kirby

Also, I see some listings on eBay for the machine end of the hose for this vacuum. Is that something that can be replaced? The hose seems to be in good shape otherwise.

    Kinda trashed Kirby

Thanks. If I keep it, I’m going to wait until I find exactly the right pieces and parts. I’m a fuddy duddy about stuff like that. I know it’s far from impressive at this point, but here’s a few pictures. One of the first things I do with a used vacuum is remove the used bag. This one appeared to...

    Kinda trashed Kirby

Hey all. I've been talking about this Kirby in a different thread, but I thought maybe it should have its own. I've been looking at it in a local thrift store for a couple/few weeks. It was marked $14.99. Normally, I would probably have grabbed it right away, even though I'm trying to cut back...

Walked away from a Kirby (Vacuholic Victory)!

Thanks, Edgar. The latest update is; This one is a Heritage II Legend. And, for $8 on half price sale, I dragged it home. I don't know if it's worth fixing up, or if I should just plan on selling stuff off of it. The outer bag looks in good shape. I should be able to get my $8 back from that. If...

Walked away from a Kirby (Vacuholic Victory)!

Went back to the same store today. The Hoover was gone, but the Dirt Devil Vision bagless canister and the Kirby Heritage II were still there. The Kirby may have been half price today, based on the color of the price sticker, but I'm not sure. In addition to the missing nozzle, I noticed today...

    WTB Oreck XL upright parts

Could be, Alex. I just always figure I'll try our little community first. My only other option I can think of is eBay. But, I'm sure you know how that usually goes. I don't want to invest $100 or more, sourcing parts for a free vacuum. I have a rescuer mentality. On the off chance that the local...

Walked away from a Kirby (Vacuholic Victory)!

Another day, another exercise in self control. (Sort of) Today's thrift store sighting was a Hoover Windtunnel upright, that appeared to be fairly late model. It was a very pretty metallic red color. And, the features sticker on the front of it mentioned the bag design. Maybe "Drop free" or...

Walked away from a Kirby (Vacuholic Victory)!

Well, I didn't go back for the Kirby, but I did go back to see if the toy Dyson was still there. It was, so I bought it this time. For $2.99, I said why not. I tried looking for some videos or something, to see where the batteries go and such. I found some videos, but none of the vacuums looked...

Walked away from a Kirby (Vacuholic Victory)!

I don't see them often, but I saw a partial Kirby at a thrift store today. It was a Heritage II. What was there looked in good enough condition. But, the nozzle was missing, and it had the hose attached. There was a tool on the hose, but I forget now if it was a crevice tool or an upholstery...

    WTB Oreck XL upright parts

Hi all, I just "rescued" the remains of a parted out Oreck XL2600HH. I get the impression there's not a ton of love for them here, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any parts they'd like to sell. I'll make a list of what I know it needs at this point. 1.) Outer bag. Doesn't have to be the...

I stopped by a local vac shop to explore around in its graveyard...

Man, that s a lot of machines! I see a few Orecks. Even an Oreck canister. Those would have tempted me, just because. Of course, as I sit here writing this, I have three fairly recent Oreck upright acquisitions at arm's reach. But, I doubt that I need to explain the sickness to anyone here. LOL...

    1990s Buicks (Regal,Skylark, Ultra,etc)

Found a picture of my 1994 Roadmaster, when it was just starting to look weathered. It was such a beautiful car when I was able to keep it maintained.

    My Electrolux trio

I just noticed a difference in the tool caddy, where the dusting brush goes. Is yours a 6500? The spot where my dusting brush goes is larger, to accommodate the adapter. Yours has a different style hose end, and doesn't need an adapter.
