    Commercial vacuums

I was painting today at a funeral home and the vacuum of choice was a yellow, commercial Eureka. It did not seem to be very loud, just the familiar sound and hum. My question is, are commercial vacuums generally louder or quieter than household vacuums?

    Does the world need this???

I think it is a good idea if you were running a catering or cake decorating business out of your home. A friend of mine decorates cakes and has crumbs everywhere in her kitchen. Personally, when I wipe down the counters and there are crumbs, I just open the dishwasher door and sweep everything...

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

To quote Blanche Devereaux, "it has been a personal triumph!" I just wish I could get the friggin' belt on. I think it is a very attractive vacuum. Just a bit of polish and a Mr Clean Eraser.

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

Is the lever suppose to go completely around? When the belt says, off, its on. Do I need to oil it? I am afraid of snapping it off.

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

So far, so good. I have the fill tube on, the handle, the cord. I found out that the sani emptor has to be on just right for the machine to work. I can't get the belt to go on. After more Googling, I realized there is a little lever that pops out from the big button. I wish I had instructions.

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

Is the brushroll still good? It fits ok, but after Googling, they said there were different settings on the roll, 1-4 if it was old. I could only find green and red on the roll.

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

The G5 was missing the fill tube, the brush roll and the brush roll plate. I am impressed that I got the fill tube off the the G3, without putting a hole in it. The fill tube was on backwards on the G3. So far so good with the transplant

    Trying to fix a Kirby.

Here are the four Kirbys that I have. The two Heritages, came from the curb. The G3 I bought at a yard sale for $8.00. The G5 I bought with a Filter Queen for $10.00. I have never liked the looks of the G3 and stashed away the G5 and totally forgot about it. Last night I found it and decided to...

i have a devastating kenmore issue. need some help

Gorilla glue will fix just about anything and it is really strong. It does expand when it dries. I don't know if the excess could be sanded off? If you tried a piece, see how it works and try to keep the ooze to the underside?

I just saw this picture in the 1975 Christmas catalouge. I never knew uprights had a tool attachment on the front? Was Kenmore/Singer the only uprights that had it?

    Family Filter Queen

Nice vacuum. I like the colour. My brown Filter Queen, has the same melted, cracking problem at the end of the hose. Mine isn't quite as bad as yours. I can get the tools to go on, but getting them off, is really hard.
