Picture it...1962..your local SEARS !! WHISPERTONE!

Wow I never knew the whispertone name went back that far. That is a pretty cool machine, and the L-shaped pn you speak of is certainly something I've never seen on a kenmore.

    1964 Sunbeam canister

Looks like a Hoover celebrity rebadge, I think that's hoover bag style H. Anything over 10 years old and 99% of the time the represenatives you talk to from the manufacturer will be of no help nor have the resources to get you what you need.

What is the future of rainbow?

I would like to see a d4 style machine, with a dolly that is circular like the machine, and not much bigger than it. That and 1 other thing is the only thing I have against the older rainbows(my favorites); the dollys smack into and get caught on everything. The other thing, which I don't know...

HEPA Bags-Are They Worth The Price?

In my opinion, they are worth it if you need it. That is, if you have alergies or are extra protective of the cleanliness of your vacuum's bag chamber. I have no alergies and dust does not bother me, so if a regular $.50 bag misses 5% of the dust going through it I don't care. I will say, my dad...

has anyone ever seen this before?

I've seen it on a couple older and slightly newer Hoovers. Most of them were from machines that had heavy use, such as a Hoover I was given by a lady that cleans houses...Worn to nubs. And I've gotten 2 Hoover elites recently that had worn down to a point where it wasn't picking up in one...

    Mrs Doubtfire Dance

needed the right elite, but overall that was great.

is this a first for a kirby

I tried that once with a leaf vacuum/blower. I was getting tired of the blower's bag clogging and me constantly having to empty it, so I tried attaching a hose to the trash can. Only problem was the blower wasn't strong enough to suck up the leaves and blow them through the hose into the can...

What brand and model vacuums do your family members use?

Let's see My mom insists her 3 yr old Bissell is a good machine, but she pretends not to like my Lux Discovery II that I brought over for her to try out. At my dad's house, his wife does the vacuuming with his old Bissell Lift away, and there's a Eureka capture given to them by my grandma that...

    Nasty vacs in for repair

ncovert That Hoover brushroll doesn't look too bad. Those nicks are probably from repeatedly picking up small sharp objects like stones, or other stuff like that. I've never had to replace one of those brushrolls unless the brushes were completely worn down or the bearings were melted. Grease...

    Odd-ball Hoover Elite parts

I am in need of some small parts for Hoover Elites. I have 3 Elites that are supposed to have color matching height adjustment knobs. I know my local vac store has a hard time getting the standard black ones, so there's no point in asking about colored ones. I need a small, dark blue one a...

Since most of us have not done a wish list lately...

I only have one There are tons of vacs that would be nice to have, but I whould have no desire to chase unless they were free! However, the 1 and only machine I would go cross-country for is a Hoover Legacy 730.

    The "Kenmoover"

I know of another collector that has one of those. I don't know if that ran the same production years as the powerdrive, but the powerdrive was 94-97'. Looks very basic compared to the proper (Hoover) version.

    Bissell Big Green PowerBrush

It's nice but not $150 nice, if you know what I mean. They are hard to find but I don't think they'll ever achieve the status of collector-worthy. I'd like to get one just to have a functional one again but my similar kenmore does a very nice job.

    Dirt Devil Royal Upright Plus

far as I'm aware that is the lite plus. Along time ago my mom cleaned for a lady that had that vacuum. It's kinda on my list of machines I'd like. You ask me it's an original featherlite with height adjustment!

    Hoover Platinum Lightweight upright

I am in no way in favor of TTI machines, even if they do work well. That said, I was working in this nice lady's house for 2 days painting some rooms, and she had that upright/canister pair. She let us use them to clean up some small messes. The canister as noted by fellow members is definitely...

Does this ever happen to anybody???

I never reallly had that problem, because it was in my early-mid teen years that I was at the vacuum store sometimes 2-3x a week getting parts and asking questions, and because there are only 2 stores in my area, and 1 within biking distance, I always went/go to the same place. I have never been...

    Vacuum Lines

Any hoover powerdrive upright(concept,powermax/drive) imo produces good lines. Kenmore canisters with 3+ rows of bristles/beaters look quite nice also. Funny story; my mom has insisted for the last 11 years Bissell bagless machines are good. She was intrigued about my lux discovery when I was...

Hoover Concept One or Bagged Hoover Windtunnel Supreme

Thats a tough one. a windtunnel with a fresh belt is probably on par with a concept, but a concept doesn't need a fresh belt to beat a windtunnel. I do like that the windtunnel has a hose, but its short and springy and nearly useless at that. I dont like the snap-on pull-off bag door either. The...

    Cleaning out the storage room

Do you still have the hoover conquest and amway clear trak? I would also be interested in odd-ball elites.
