    Anyone up for housecleaning?

Kirbyklekter, the G was my all-time favorite model for many years, but these days I really like the looks of the AE and the 1205.  I can't pick a favorite.  Without an integrated cordwinder, the AE looks more industrial to me, and the blue hammertone is handsome.  Lux's designers really cleaned...

    Anyone up for housecleaning?

Greetings all!  My wife is out of town until next Tuesday, so I can get away with setting these up in the den temporarily to keep me company.    So my post title won't be seen as clickbait, I will mention that I vacuumed the main floor with the model G on Tuesday, and today I will vacuum the...

    Carbon Dust from Motors

This thread is timely and got me thinking This morning I vacuumed with my 1964 Electrolux model G.  Back in its day there were few exhaust filters and no sealed systems, but that was OK for the time.  Unless you had a burst bag, the air exiting the cleaner was cleaner than the air going in.  In...

Who has “created their own” vacuum!

I built a wet-dry vac years ago I used a 20-gallon grease drum from the truck shop I worked at, a dolly I got from the shop, a new 7 amp, 2-stage Lamb peripheral-bypass motor that I ordered through the shop, an inverted plastic hanging flower pot for the motor cover, and the hose, hose port...

    OK I've been on for awhile, can't figure out . . .

The shag, plush, low icons next to posts.  They don't seem to be related to number of views or number of replies.  Someone please enlighten me!  Sorry if it's been asked 1,000 times already.   Joel

WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

Still interested Vacman1961 and dysonman1, is there some magical incantation I need to utter in order to move forward, or some kind of union card I need to show?    I studied at Hogwarts and can wave my wand with the best of 'em.   Thanks,   Joel

What to buy if I want a recent Aerus vacuum

I'm vintage 'lux all the way, but out of curiosity I'm thinking of buying a recent Aerus model to be my daily driver. I prefer to leave out failure-prone electronics. What models should I consider? I prize reliability over glitz and features. I should mention that my daily driver is a Miele...

    My sweet new Electrolux 1205

Thanks to human, everything matches now I appreciate your welcome input, I now have the proper PN-2 for this vacuum. It arrived with probably the most-oxidized cover I've ever seen, but a half hour with polishing compound got it looking very presentable. It has no deep scratches and will buff...

WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

Dysonman1, yes Depends on the price of course. When I moved to PA I swore I would no longer collect vintage vacuums, but here I am up to 7. I really don't need this but it is one sweet machine. I didn't react to your original post because I didn't read it as an offer to sell. I just thought...

Nothing like having a Kirby 4C to help light up the room.

I think it's cool as all get-out Thanks for sharing!

    Golden J motor issue

I have a 1205 motor on my bench . . . . . . and it measures 7" end-to-end. If your motor is that length, it requires the shorter armature. Not that there can be much doubt if your machine is indeed a 1205 - the longer motor will not fit it. Joel

Is this hose end from a Canadian Electrolux?

Jon, a bojack hose did work perfectly with this handle My bojack replacement hose had finer pitch than the hose this handle came with, but it stretched and screwed right into the handle, and now I have a great non-electric hose. Which is a good thing because the hose's original handle didn't...

Want to clean and lubricate an Elecrrolux Super J motor

There are good YouTube videos out there . . . . . . that will give you the info you need. This one is about the teardown: and this one is about re-assembly: However, don't use grease in the rear sleeve bearing. It has a large felt wick to hold non-detergent motor oil. That is the only...

One owner doesn't guarantee excellent condition!

It's always a risk . . . . . . but in this case, clearly the onus was on me because the seller made no representation about internal condition. As bad as this looks inside, it's 100% functional, so I'm OK with it. Worst case, I have the critical spare parts to keep my other 1205 running for...

One owner doesn't guarantee excellent condition!

I recently acquired another Electrolux 1205 because it looked really clean in the images, came with extra tools, and the seller stated that it was a one-owner machine. I thought great, one owner, it hasn't been passed around and probably was taken very good care of. Attached are images of what...

Thank you I look forward to your reply. Are there other (pre-1205) models that you have available? I'm particularly interested in the E and the AE. Joel
