How to date a Hoover Guardsman.

Oh!, (for Andy); he meant the date of manufacture! At first, I thought, I'd rather date a bodyguard-man.

Funniest lie told by a DTD salesman...

I had a Rainbow demonstration. Nothing wrong with a Rainbow at all in my opinion. I just didn't need another machine. I agreed to the demo for a friend of a friend. He used the white cloth on the upholstery tool and showed me how it got dirty after cleaning an area of carpet that had been...

    Your experience with vacuuming!

I did the survey, while not logged in. I stated if I spend more than $500 US for a cleaner, it should last a very long time, and not need costly bags, filters, or regular costly upkeep. As for homes with pets, that is a no brainer. You clean more often, unless you live in squalor, or enjoy...

    Bette Davis Eyes

John, I watched it last night. In the beginning, the gal playing Betty Davis sounds more like Katherine Hepburn. I think it's hard for any actress to play those two. The producer wanting to make Baby Jane had the funds, but no studio, so he asked Jack Warner to do it. "Are you kidding me?"...

    PAN DE SAL FRENCH TOAST

Could you use sour dough, French, or brioche bread if you let it soak overnight? Maybe add one extra egg and more milk.

    New Brushroll?

Good question Mike. I'd go to a vac shop with your vac and compare it to the newer brush rolls. I don't own a Miele, but I have two Beam power nozzles, and one has stiffer brushes than the other. One is a Eureka Express style design with a steel beater bar. It has the stiffer. The other has a...

    The Eureka HAMBURGER

Mid late 60's. New shapes sold well. I think the vibra-beat is cool. Most say they don't pick up well. I have one with only one row of brushes, and it does pick up well. Some had a knob to retract them.

VACUUM CLEANER "BURAN" VINTAGE 1970 - RUSSIAN USSR RARE 220V 390W

They copied a lot of western products. Henry Ford even helped them with the Gorky-ZIL automotive plant. Several copied General Motors and Packard styling. The first Moskvitch car was mainly an Opel Kadette, and the Lada sedan a Fiat 124.

The "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" White Trash Washing Machine Cover

Nobody meant you Mark. I was born in Pennsyltucky myself.

    David (suckolux),

Ok, glad you are OK David! The dam looks to be fine. The depth of the concrete in the spillway needs to be deeper.

    David (suckolux),

Have you had to evacuate because of the compromised spillway in Oroville? Hope all is well.

    Thrift Store Vacuums

"Thrift Store" would be like Salvation Army, Goodwill, St. Vincent DePaul, etc. There are several on Long Island. Maybe just not out in the Hamptons, but there are around Hempstead and Huntington.

    Eureka Vacuums History

Did they still make the round canisters in 1959? My parents received a pea green canned ham Mobile-Air vibra-beat for a wedding gift in '59.

    Electrolux Canister EL6988 coming together...

If the hose end and wands are round and not oval shaped, 1-1/4 inch standard tools will work. Otherwise you need the oval shaped tool openings, or the adapter.

I have never seen such a terrible "Repair" on a Kirby

"Kirby Tradition" then some break with tradition. Thats called progression. Every decision has a consequence.

Why new Kenmores suck, and not in a good way!

Unless the power nozzle caused the short.

Why new Kenmores suck, and not in a good way!

You could get an inexpensive continuity tester to check the hose port on the canister. Not a multimeter unless you know what you are doing and what to set it for so as not to damage it. Just a two wire type with a light bulb for 110 volts. If the hose power port has voltage, the hose was the...

Sanitaire VS Eureka Mighty Mite Question

Nothing. Do they even still make Mighty Mites? Eureka simply badged them Sanitaire to sell to commercial buyers.

    My first vacuum

Not even if a typo was made and he was born in '76. That would have been 1981, and no plastic or upright bagless vac's were even made yet then. Not in North America. Maybe a shop vac was plastic. Eureka and Hoover used steel until the mid 80's. Kenmore's were plastic, but not bagless. Bissel...
