I had the same problem with my Hoover Decade 80. But I have a Convertible model 1010 that performs great. I've always had better luck with Eureka uprights.

Here are some pictures of what I'm dealing with..

I have a Convertible model 1010. It has the 2 height adjustment. The control only goes back and forth and doesn't move the height at all. I'm not sure how to fix it. it looks complete. the spring and all is there. Anyone have a picture to show how it should work?

I actually have a 1425 in mint condition in my collection. I agree though...Eureka was way ahead of Hoover. I love how the height adjustment is on the front of the machine...where it should be. Hoover was in the rear, which made no sense to me. Now don't get me wrong...I love a Convertible...but...

I absolutely love these machines! Wonderful looking, lightweight and they do a wonderful job. As much as I love Convertibles, I think Eureka had a better design. How long on average do blender motor Eurekas last? What do I need to do to maintain one to last a long time? Also if anyone has pics...
