A Special Gift Arrived For Me Today...Thanks to Mr. John Gregory

I finally replaced the handle bail on my 1010. Took me a little while to figure it out. I actually had emailed John Gregory for assistance and he offered to call me and walk me through the whole process...if that isn't awesome, I don't know what is. But after getting home from work right before...

    How to Replace Handle Bail

Ok, as some of you have read before, I need to replace the handle bail on my 1010. Thanks to John Gregory, I have a new bail. How does one go about doing this? I figured it would be simple. But last night I popped off the hood and couldn't figure it out exactly. I'm not sure if I'm looking at it...

A Special Gift Arrived For Me Today...Thanks to Mr. John Gregory

I always loved the 1060, just never thought I'd actually own one. I had always wanted 3 specific Convertibles...the 1010, the 1060, and the plastic base u4335. Two I have, only one left to go. John not only helped me fix my beloved 1010, but brought me closer to completing my dream Convertible...

    My New Kirby

A few days before I received John Gregory's kind gift, the Hoover Convertible 1060, I was browsing my local Craigslist and found this Kirby G3, with all attachments and shampooer as well as instruction manual for $30. Not bad. Runs excellent. Gave it a small spa treatment and a new bag and belt...

A Special Gift Arrived For Me Today...Thanks to Mr. John Gregory

Boy was I surprised today. I posted a thread a while back about a broken handle bail on my Convertible model 1010. After no luck in tracking one down, I decided to repair it temporarily with a bracket and two screws. After posting the repair here on the forum, I received an email from John...

What Can You Tell Me About This Simplicity?

As a collector of vintage vacuum cleaners, this is a rare sight. I have a more modern cleaner in my collection. I bought this for next to nothing at my local Goodwill store a year or two ago and have never touched it since I brought it home. But for the cheap price, I couldn't leave it behind. I...

    Hoover Convertible Broken Handle Repair

Just a little update...a temporary fix until a new handle bail is found. I was tired of not being able to use my convertible. A brace, 2 screws, and two nuts. It's not the prettiest thing in the world but it makes my beloved Hoover alive again.

    Hoover Convertible Broken Handle Repair

I had lifted this one by the handle to move it over when I was moving a bookshelf into the house. It was sitting in my way and I had the heavy load in my hands, so I gently picked it up by the handle and scooted it over and sat it down...I paid no attention until later when I went to use the...

    Hoover Convertible

Hello! I'm in the market for a good Convertible. Doesn't have to be perfect...just want something that runs and sounds well and is in decent shape. I'm not too picky. Pics of your machine would be wonderful. It will be going to a good, loving home. Thanks!!!

    Hoover Convertible Broken Handle Repair

I would greatly appreciate that. The vac shops here don't have much for Convertibles either. If you need a bag and belt, they've got it, otherwise you're out of luck. This is a model 1010, with the metal base. I used the machine regularly and loved it. It was heartbreaking when I realized what...

    Hoover Convertible Broken Handle Repair

I thought about brackets and bolts but there is no way I would do this to this machine. I can't bring myself to make such a beautiful machine look so nasty. It would be difficult to find the parts to fix it. Convertibles are non-existant around here. Looks like it's time to retire it and just...

    Hoover Convertible Broken Handle Repair

Ok, here's an unusual fix needed. The actual handle on this convertible has snapped on one side. What would be the best method to fix it? Or can it be repaired. I wanted a convertible for so long and it took me forever to get this one and then this happens. So upsetting! Any help or ideas are...

What is your favorite vintage vacuum and your least favorite vacuum?

Most favorite...Kirby, Eureka, and Hoover. Great machines and such fun to use! My least favorite...Dyson and Oreck. I also do NOT like canisters or tanks. I only collect uprights.

    RCA Victor Cabinet Stereo

Yes. It was free. It was the guy's sister's stereo. She just went into a rest home due to dementia...and he was moving into her apartment and said it was in his way. He either wanted to give it away or throw it out. The turntable won't spin. I can hear it running, so I'm thinking the idler...
