    Today's Vacuum of the Day

Greetings all, I love today's vacuum of the day! What great styling, especially the polished cast aluminum front and rear covers. Did it use a B&D nee Lamb motor? It looks like attachments from Filter Queen and Royal would fit. If any members have one, I'd really like to see images. Any...

Electrolux 1205 - access to remove the motor?

Lubrication Welcome, and I hope I'm not too late with this. In case you haven't already noticed, the fan end of the motor has a sealed ball bearing. As I recall the front bearing caps in the 1205 motors are riveted. If the bearing is noisy or feels rough you'll need to drill out the rivets to...

    Electrolux Power Nozzle Always On

LOL Human If I did that my wife would immediately suspect me as the cause, not a normal breakdown.

How do you enjoy your collection?

I mostly display my vintage vacs while my Miele PN canister and Sanitaire upright are my DD's. Occasionally I pull out a vintage vac to use. As with so many vac shops back in the day, my bench vac is a Filter Queen, specifically a beige model 31 because my paternal grandmother had one. They...

    Today's Vacuum of the Day

What a great ad! Those kids are adorable. It would seem that these floor washer-dryers never really caught on, but the concept was solid.   Joel

Vintage 1950s Westinghouse model T-6 Canister vacuum.

Wattage It looks like 675 watts to me. If that's the case it has to be one of the higher-power motors of its time. Congrats on your find! Joel

    Electrolux XXX/30

Here you go, and thank you to the OP The below image's link points to this site, but just reads vacuumland.org with no specific URL. I enlarged the image for clarity.   There was a site called theelectroluxman.com whose business was reconditioning and reselling vintage Elux vacs. As I...

Wap Turbo West German Made Shop Vac?

I concur, Bisonian I read something to that effect elsewhere in this forum about who makes the Stihl shop vacs. I have their SE122 and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't have the CFM of a high-end Shop Vac or similar, but those machines don't pull 90" of water. With a 1-1/2" hose it has plenty...

Electrolux model "E" through "L" wheel replacement.

Re electrojes Do these wheels break because the vac was dropped? I've seen lots of model Ls but never one with broken rear wheels. Compared to the rear wheels on the model E, they do seem way less robust. Just wondering.   Joel

    Apex

I'm afraid I can't help with a belt, but What a darling little vacuum! I really like the burgundy color. Are those parts a thermoset plastic or painted metal? You got 'er all shined up nice, too.   Joel

    Electrolux XXX attachment

Nice work, Chris! A shiny XXX is always a pleasure to behold. I dig your radios, too! Please do post about them in the household section. I used to have dozens of vintage tube radios, but over time I thinned that collection down to just five. I'll take some images and post them in the household...

Repair manual for Electrolux Model G?

Welcome, Chris! I'm so glad you found us! We have a great group here, very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I'm also glad you've joined the "Model G Club" as it were. I have both an aqua and a tan G. And having been guided to them by Dysonman1, I recommend using Clean Obsessed Type C HEPA...

Air-Way upright vacuum cleaner on "The Real McCoys!"

Oh, this was hilarious! I loved The Real McCoys when I was a kid. I don't remember this episode though, and I had forgotten how funny this series is. Walter Brennan was a gem. In the movie Support Your Local Sheriff, he steals every scene he's in.   Joel

When it’s “just” an old Hoover

Alternate heat source I like your (I think) wood-burning insert, BTW. We have an insert and a free-standing wood-burner. Saves us huge $ on our gas bill.   Joel

When it’s “just” an old Hoover

Looks familiar I guided my older sister to one of these in the late 70s when she was looking for a reliable cleaner for her rugs. Bulletproof. Great vacuum.   Joel

How to change a cord on an Electrolux automatic e cord reel

Hard to tell Unfortunately you won't know until you disassemble it. I happened to luck out when I did my parents' cordwinder. The one I bought was old-school with a metal housing, essentially the same diameter, so I was willing to take the risk.

How to change a cord on an Electrolux automatic e cord reel

There is another way . . . My parents' model E had the same cordwinder and the spring broke, I think, because it wouldn't retract anymore. On a hunch I bought a shop work light with a cord reel, and believe it or not, the "guts" from it fit perfectly in the original cordwinder's housing. It was...
