    "Fixing" Grandma's Eureka 270

My partner came home from spending the day with his mother and grandmother and said "I need you to take a look at something". So he brings down this Eureka...one of the most pristine looking, unrestored vacuum cleaners I have ever laid eyes on. This vacuum has been in daily service since 1969...

My Kingdom for a Black Kirby 505 Belt Lifter...

Adam, I purposely ignored your first post on this thread, but if you insist on a response from me... I assure you, the belt lifter is not broken and I will be posting photos when it's installed. Last time I asked for photos of something you were trying to sell me (which I didn't even really...

    canisters anyone?

While I mostly collect Kirbys, I too have a thing for canisters. There's something about the hose for me, especially a cloth hose! I was fascinated with them as a child as well, I loved when my grandmother let me use her canister (we had a Convertible at home). I was also fascinated by old...

My Kingdom for a Black Kirby 505 Belt Lifter...

A big thanks to Will Hemb for locating a beautiful 505 belt lifter for me! I can't wait to complete this machine...I feel like Indiana Jones about to place the headpiece on the Staff of Ra in Raiders of the Lost Ark!

My Kingdom for a Black Kirby 505 Belt Lifter...

He's just making belt caps, which wouldn't work on my machine. I need the actual lifter.

My Kingdom for a Black Kirby 505 Belt Lifter...

I know its a long shot, but I would love to find a black belt lifter for my 505. It's such a nice machine, it's a shame for it to have the wrong belt lifter. If anyone has a spare stashed away...name your price.

Kirby Model 510 Emtor Tray - Black Bakelite or Gray Plastic?

I'm having trouble determining if my 510 should have a black bakelite Emtor tray or the later gray plastic kind. My 505 and 508 both have the bakelite trays. What model did they start using gray? I have both types of trays, but I'm not sure which is technically correct. The 510 in question is...

Is this the correct cord for a Kirby 560?

Mike, This would indeed be the appropriate cord for your 560. :-)

Wanted - Kirby Aftermarket Bag w/Red Printing

This is not an aftermarket bag, it's a genuine Kirby bag used on the Sanitronic machines. I have one as well and it has a Scott & Fetzer tag on it. (Sorry, not for sale).

    emptor tray gasket

I'd have to agree with Bikerray, I've replaced the emptor gasket on dozens of Kirbys and never had a problem with leaking, and it takes about 3 minutes. You can spend extra money to buy a new emptor tray, sure...but it won't be the original gray plastic or black Bakelite, it will be new cheap...

3 Early 500 Series Kirbys Restored

Thanks for the compliments! Jeff, Yes it is a Kenmore range from 1942, I completely restored it a few years ago. I just baked scones in it this morning. :-) The Model T is a Touring, I need to finish upholstering the top, but otherwise it's a great looking car!

3 Early 500 Series Kirbys Restored

Well I finally had time to finish my 505, it came out great! I'm glad to finally have most of the indoor projects done now, my next project as spring approaches will be getting my 1926 Ford Model T back on the road. Here are a couple of photos of my 505, 508, and 510. I still need the correct...

FOR SALE: 2 Rex-Air model Bs and a Rainbow Model D

I have 2 Rex-Air model Bs and a Rainbow model D for sale. The rainbow and 1 of the Rex-Airs have their hoses and tanks, the 2nd rex is missing the tank and hose but would be good for parts. These all need to be taken apart and cleaned/serviced as the bearings are all dry. Also included with the...

Dear Santa, Better late than never!

Thanks! Yes, I am pretty excited to get started on it soon....alas, tempus fugit. I think you are right about a steady supply, sometimes I find 10 of them in a week, and then nothing for months. You just never know.
