    Performing a Royal Upgrade

Wow. Thanks. That's nothing at all like what I thought they bulbs should be. I was going with a standard T7, like this.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZY4OY2

Just the bulb... Bringing this up again. The last T7 bulb I bought I ended up taping with electrical tape because it was loose and flickered. It died recently, so I got some LED bulbs and they're loose too. Anyway, researching T7 bulbs I found out that it means 1/8ths of an inch. So a T8 is...

1980-1995 Royal (All-Metal) Upright Model Chart

Btw, got more nasty emails from ecovacuum because they weren't watching the USPS tracking and were convinced I was withholding the wrong product they needed me to return. They threatened to charge me for the item as well. Don't do business with them unless you are absolutely desperate. ANYWAY...

1980-1995 Royal (All-Metal) Upright Model Chart

An update. The wheels I got from ecovacuum seem to work fine. The caps to the wheels don't lock, so they're trash. One side needed a single washer and the other one washer provided plus a thinner one I had. I don't know if that's my vac or their wheels being irregular. The bulb provided is...

I was just asking if the Ace Hardware oil I linked was acceptable. If you want to argue about the weight, here's a thread: https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?6526

@lesinutah - I'd be concerned that the 3-in-one on Amazon doesn't give a weight to the oil (like most multi-in-ones). Heck, it's made by WD-40 which is even less encouraging.

    Aren't 3 in 1 and 5 in 1 20 weight?

Thanks. Do you think this oil is appropriate or can you recommend something better? https://www.acehardware.com/departments/automotive-rv-and-marine/fluids-and-lubrication/motor-oils/8706723

Nice video. Doesn't really answer my question of how often, how much or where to oil. It also doesn't recommend an oil. Still, neat vid.

I see a lot of talk of what's right for the motor, especially no detergent. Should this be good? https://www.acehardware.com/departments/automotive-rv-and-marine/fluids-and-lubrication/motor-oils/8706723

Is there a youtube video on how to do this? It's new to me.

Have a bulb and wheels on the way that MIGHT work. Will definitely let you all know how it goes. Another question: I see in the diagrams that there is a port for oiling the motor on the side. What is needed for maintenance on these? I know repair shops are pretty hesitant to take on something...

    Bernina 6100C Motor +(?)

The problem is, the motors really seem to have been on back order for 3 months and the best I've heard is maybe December they'll be back. How are they still building commercial vacuums if this motor, used by several brands is unavailable? I've tried a few online sites now and several would...

    Bernina 6100C Motor +(?)

Didn't want to risk screwing this up disassembling and cleaning so I found another repair shop 20 minutes away. I just told them I needed it cleaned up and that it was running perfectly. They just told me the burning smell is electrical and the motor is failing... which they say they can't...

    Performing a Royal Upgrade

Funny thing, I dug through the storage area today and found the manuals and parts list for the Royal 880 as well. The bulb has me stumped. I can't find the right bulb anywhere. I did this search, but I can't go on that information, really...

    Performing a Royal Upgrade

After talking with my dad, he agrees that it's been modified a lot, and it's probably the vacuum they got in the 60s or early 70s. The pic you posted looks a lot like the Alva vac I grew up with. I guess it really is older than I thought. I tried steel wool and Brasso and went at the nozzle...

    Performing a Royal Upgrade

Sure. I was asking about the step-on height adjustment because it sounded like an upgrade I might be able to add. If it's not, that's fine. The bulb is a mystery to me. There's no printing on the bulb and I can't find a schematic for this model. I have an similar bulb from another vacuum...

    Bernina 6100C Motor +(?)

We've had the vacuum for years (we bought it new). The past several weeks someone else was helping us out and using it. When I got back to doing the chore it had that smell. I changed the bag, thinking that was the issue and it didn't help. I like your answer; I think a filter change might be...

    Bernina 6100C Motor +(?)

Mostly it smells bad. It sounds fine to me. Shooting the video, I'd swear it doesn't smell as bad as it did before. I don't know if this video is helpful. The audio of the video do sound different from how it sounds in person, but I'm open to suggestions. If I needed to replace the motor...

1980-1995 Royal (All-Metal) Upright Model Chart

Wow. 50-75W equivalent? I'm pretty sure the Royals use a 15 or 25 Watt bulb. I bet that makes night vaccing easier.
