    My Brand New electrolux Intensity

No, I'm saying that the name will stay with the Swedish company (AB Electrolux) as will the name Eureka. Remember, the parent company of Eureka is AB Electrolux. Eureka is just a division. What you're referring to as a "Eureka-made Electrolux," is, in fact, just the opposite -- at least to the...

    My Brand New electrolux Intensity

Actually, Let's clarify here, guys. AB Electrolux of Sweden really IS the parent company, where "our" (U.S.) Electrolux began. Although I'm sure others can tell the story more accurately than I (paging Charlie Lester), my understanding is the American branch split off around the 1920s, becoming...

When did you get your first vac for Christmas?

Re: Plug-in Toy Vacuums Charles-Richard, funny you should mention those Sears toy 110v machines. I actually got one of those for Christmas, when I was 4 or 5 years old. I can even remember asking Santa for it. This would have been 1964 or '65, so the memory's kinda vague, but if I recall...

    What are our favorite vacuums?

Favorite vacs Gotta go with the Kirby 500 series, for two reasons -- a 519 was the start of my collection, and more importantly, because my grandmother had one just like it when I was a kid. As for canisters, I'm fond of my trusty Electrolux 1205. But that could change when I get around to...

    Sanyo Dirthunter bagless?

Anyone have any info about Sanyo Dirthunter bagless machines? I ran across one in a thrift shop the other day and it looked like an interesting machine. Not sure of the model number, but I think it might have been a B1230. Red and white, with a black hose and tools. The color's what attracted...

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

Filtrete F&G??? Where can I find those? I have a Kirby 519 with an F&G converter. I'd love to be able to use those.

    Concept Two Electronic?

Colors? Model? It's a light greenish gray, with a gray hand vac. Gray outer bag. Model U3301

    Concept Two Electronic?

I just found a Hoover Concept Two Electronic in a local thrift shop. It came complete with the hand vac and hand vac tools, and seems to be in fairly decent shape. The hand vac runs, but doesn't sound too healthy, while the upright is OK. Given the electronic speed control (five on the floor!)...

Advice Needed - Best Upright for Health Reasons?

Lindhaus? While I have nothing against Sebo -- I agree they're fantastic machines -- I'm just curious as to how Lindhaus compares to them. Lindhaus seems to be largely an Italian copy of the German Sebo design. Are they competitive?

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

ServiceMaster BigBubba: While I'm not a huge fan of ServiceMaster in many respects, I can't really be too harsh. They gave me a job when I was first out of college, and had no real-world experience at all. That led to lots of other good things, such as meeting my wife when I worked in a...

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

Yes, ServiceMaster turquoise! I was working for ServiceMaster when I first saw one of these machines in 1985! ServiceMaster private-labeled everything when they managed hospital housekeeping departments. If they lost the contract, all the machines and supplies went with them, and it made it a...

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

And just to clarify that Sebo/Windsor link, with a very good description of the Versamatic's features ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200011432973&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX&refitem=220041561260&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget

    Mighty Maid

Advance If I remember correctly, Advance also once offered a version before the gray one, when their main colors were red and white.

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

Sure, Windsor's in Englewood But those Versamatics all have a little tag on 'em that says "made in Germany." Or more likely at the time I was responsible for purchasing them, "made in West Germany." Sebo offers basically the same machine for home use as the "Sebo Electronic 370." Windsor, in...

    Windsor Versamtic!!!!

Versamatics These are great machines. A two-motor built by Sebo, they've been on the U.S. commercial scene for a couple of decades now. I used to work in hospital and nursing home housekeeping departments, and they very quickly became a standard there, thanks to their low noise, high...

    Lux parts availability?

I had two different vac shops tell me today that replacement parts for "old" (pre-Aerus) Electrolux machines are no longer avaiable to them wholesale. True, or do I just need to find a better shop?

    Electrolux G

Nathan, thank you Nathan, thank you so much. I've been out of town and just saw your message. I really appreciate the information and your level of detail. I won't have a chance to tackle the G for a couple of weeks, but I'll keep you posted. Once again, thanks. Rick

    Electrolux G

OK, I'll confess I never understood all the fuss over the Electrolux Model G. Until I picked one up at a thrift shop today. Wow, what a great machine! I don't think I've ever heard a vacuum this quiet, and certainly not this quiet with so much suction. Unfortunately, it has that ozone-like...

Now that's what I call timing! I just picked up a 3101 Concept One last Saturday at a yard sale for $2. It's identical to the blue one pictured. And my grandmother had the matching 3103 for 25 years. The brown matched the shag carpet in our house. Great memories! Rick
