    Bissell Steam Vacs

Found a very nice Bissell steamer (not the proheat) model curbside, also had my neighbor's 4 month old Pro Heat Pet for awhile to test while I unclogged it for her. Ran across a Hoover Spin Scrub with a leaky quick disconnect valve a few weeks later (looks almost like new) sitting at the curb...

    The Vacuum That Everybody Owns

All uprights, 4 years of picking them up curbside: 1. Bissell bagless (filthy, clogged) 2. Hoover Windtunnel (bagless mostly, filthy, clogged filters) 3. Eureka bagless (filthy, broken belt or worse) That's definately the most common. I've brought home 3 Bissell's in one evening somedays (most...

    HooVax QuickLite, salvaged...

I've found as long as they haven't been submerged in a flood they're usually fine. I normally brush out the worst of it outside and then soak whatever I can in some sudsy water in the stationary tub. It should clean up fine, although the filter is toast (you'd never get the odor out of it...

    Vac Shopping strategies.

I swear I don't find them, they find me anymore. LOL My mom's neighbor called me over to take his old vacuum in the shed out to the curb for him, that's how I found my Tri Star CXL (w/power nozzle), a week later another neighbor near me had one setting out curbside (minus the power nozzle)...

    Hoover Steam Vac Question

I'd try the silicone, should do the trick. Not sure too many (if any) sell the gasket separately from the recovery tank lid.

    My Awesome Find

Looks like it's in awesome shape! I love the green. What year was this? I see the shag setting, so I'm assuming maybe 70's? The power drive looks virtually the same.

Polishing Kirby (and Royal upright) using the HANDI-BUTLER

I have a Heritage 84 that is my next vacuum project as soon as I get time. It has a loose power switch that is my first priority, but also some very deep scratches on the top cover (over the headlight). Any tips are appreciated. I'm planning for this one to be my "new daily driver". Never had...

    Some Thoughts on Oreck Vacuums

I've had 3 uprights, all curb finds that I've since fixed and sent off to homes that needed something alot lighter due to health issues. They all love them. For me, they're not bad, light and very easy to work on. I have fairly deep shag carpet, and they just didn't clean as deep as I would...

It's Amazing What People Get Rid Of..

Awesome!! I have a charcoal/silver one, I like it alot. Another curb find, the foot lever that holds the back was broken and one attachment was missing (4 days later I found a parts donor also curbside 10 miles away when I was going to the store). Surprising what you can find. : )

LOL Maybe if you're lucky he'll combine shipping if you buy the "rare vintage" 1982 Quaker Oats tin too. : ) http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-OLD-FASHIONED-QUAKER-OATS-VINTAGE-TIN-RARE-/150540572322?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230cead6a2

    Electrolux Pittsburgh Craigslist

Posted for free on Pittsburgh Craigslist. I'm too far away or I would go for it, looks rough, but might be good for parts? They also have a vintage Kirby posted also. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/zip/2137938996.html

    Dumpster Dive finally here!

I know what you mean. Gave the neighbor a bagged Eureka upright 2 months ago after her Hoover died (beyond repair). She called me last week because it didn't have any suction. A spool of thread and about 2 lbs of dog hair trapped around it. Yuck, I felt horrible for the poor thing. : (

    Kenmore

My mom had one like that, looked identical, it was a dark red though. My grandmother bought it for her sometime in the early 90's.
