    Old Birtman -patent

Tom, I think he posted while I was typing. I was probably interrupted mid sentence and didn't get back to my post until the good Mr. Gasko has put his post up.

Anyone else having problems loggin in to ebay?

Weirdness with ebay today. I was logged in and it force me to log in again. After typing in my account e-mail and password it told me one or the other was invalid. Ok, I didn't forget my password so I very carefully retyped everything-four more times- and each time was told my e-mail or...

Rugsucker, any Panasonic parts in that warehouse?

I just acquired an old Panasonic Jet Flo model 7190. It is missing the pre-motor filter frame and the upholstery brush. Does that warehouse have any old Panasonic stock in there? Oh, it uses C-1 bags if there are any of those floating around. Thanks.

    Who uses..

I'm trying to acquire a Hoover Dimension 1000. I've never seen one in person, just images and studying diagrams. It fascinates me for some reason. I find most Hoover uprights to be horrible, certainly my Hoover Caddy Vac is, but their canister vacs seem as if they came from an entirely...

    Rebuilding a Kenmore beater bar

Kenmore no longer sells replacement brush strips for old Powermate beater bar brush rolls (but replacement beater bar inserts are still available, go figure). You are forced to buy the new style brush. However, Sebo/Windsor and several other brands still sell brush strips for their brush...

I think someone has changed their tune

12 amps at 120 volts AC equals 1440 watts, all you get in the US and it is plenty. 2000 watts is off the hinge. We had all the same angst in California when the state instituted efficiency requirements for home appliances. The move was primarily intended to reduce the need to add more...

    A Roomba's Death

I don't know anything about Roombas but did you check the bag or whatever they use to collect dirt is not full or a filter clogged? Something along those lines could activate a self protection feature that shuts the machine down before it can do harm to itself. Just a thought.

Sofa in a sack aka Bolster in a bag

I think it is a demonstration of suction, not an effective means to clean anything.

Okay kids, get the smelling salts and fainting couch handy...

As far as painting a Kirby, just as with cars and motorcycles I think there has to be room for both restored original vacs of any brand, and highly customized ones. Sometimes the customized ones are more interesting, a window into the mind of the customizer and often a hint at what could have...

    The Black Super J

It's a good looking combo. I still can't get over the polished aluminum floor brush.

    Old Birtman -patent

Ah, I see. The single rear wheel shown in the patent became two, for a total of six. Very interesting. I kind of thought the patent had to do with the origins of height adjustment.

    Old Birtman -patent

I only saw five wheels on the drawings in the patent. I was specifically looking for six btw, but only see five. Tell me if I am missing something.

Kenmore High Desert Restoration Center New Inductees

The Kenmore High Desert Restoration Center announces the induction of two canister vacuums to the program. The first is a mid 1980s Kenmore 4.5 peak horsepower two speed canister vacuum with wand and Powermate. All are in very good to outstanding condition as delivered. The Powermate has a...

    Who uses..

Ronni, those old Kenmore cord winders can't be disassembled. I've tried. I've even tried pulling the cord all the way out then giving it a couple of more turns to see if that tightens the spring but no luck. After one turn the thing won't go further. When Kenmore reintroduced the Whispertone...
