Electrolux model XXX with a power nozzle port?

All this talk about Electroluxes leads me to wonder - does anybody have or has anybody seen an Electrolux XXX with a port for a powernozzle pigtail? I know Metropolitan refurbished and sold model XXX's well into the '70's so it's reasonable to think that some vac shop or Metropolitan may have...

    Oreck stores closing

I have at least four XL-21's. Since the Oreck stores are practically all but gone I wonder if TTI will still honor the 21 year warranty on them? Also, can you bring them to a vac shop that sells Oreck for free tune-ups?

How to put on an Oreck lifetime belt

You're right about build quality suffering. I've noticed the plastics they use now are thinner gauge, the cords thinner and newer Orecks have circuit boards. Not a fan at all of the Magnesium series. I really couldn't say I think Oreck is brand to be sought anymore. The old man David Oreck...

    Hydro-Vac

Maybe it was a private label sold only in retail stores and the McAllister was sold door-to-door?

    Scored a NIB Super J

From what I've heard, the Super J had the most powerful motor of any Electrolux, and yes, stronger than the Golden Jubilee. That was a SCORE!

Electrolux Model E-Automatic for Home Economics Classes

Well done, Charles. I can't think of anyone else who will appreciate this rare gem as much as you do. I'd love to know how many Automatic E's were made for this particular purpose. I visit alot of high schools and junior high schools to repair sewing machines. I don't see a single vacuum...

    Electrolux Le

I have a pink LE which I use as my daily driver. I know LE stood for "low end" compared to the more deluxe 2100. I wonder if the gray and pink models were offered at the same time?

Hoover Secondary Color Names Mid '60s to Mid '70s

I have always thought the Dial-A-Matic U5015 looked like butterscotch even though Hoover's technical name is "Persian Gold."

Is it bad to use a antique vacuum as a evey day cleaner?

You know it's funny. Vintage vacuums are a testament to the fact that you DON'T need a gas-guzzling 12 amp or 15 amp motor to get your carpets clean. Save for filtration, new vacuums have NO advantage over vintage ones. And build quality has definitely suffered on the whole in the last 25...

    Airway model 50

Thank you for that info. So that machine is labeled "Firestone?" Wonder if there were other versions under different brands?

    Regina Electric Brooms.

I wouldn't be able to say when attachments first became available, but I can tell you Regina closed its plant in the early '90's. The plant reopened to make Oreck vacuums. Ironically, Oreck has since moved out of the Biloxi, Mississippi factory as well. They continued making Regina...

    Airway model 50

I realize this is off-topic, and that picture is probably from some years ago, but does anyone know what type of upright that is to the right of the Kenmore Imperial? Very futuristic looking.

No more regret: Hoover Powermax find

It would, but I'm a purist. I like things to stay the way they were when they left the factory. I have plenty of Concepts with the steel agitator, the fact that these have the Elite style brushroll make them a true crossover into the Dimension uprights that would follow.

    Conventions

Very well put!!! And I, for one, would be very sad to see you leave this forum. While I do collect other brands of vintage vacuums besides Hoover I consider you a treasure trove of information regarding Hoovers and the once-great company in Canton, Ohio. You yourself, Tom Gasko, Charles...

No more regret: Hoover Powermax find

I can't wait to see the final result! Just out of curiosity, was there ever an even more BOL version of the PowerMax (by which I mean a non-powerdrive version like the Concept One)? I know the TOL model had a slide switch for the speed control. Early PowerMaxes had a metal brushroll like the...

    old hoover questions

AFAIK, the model 28 and 61 were sold at the same time (1946-1950). The 28 sold more units because it was the lower cost upright. The 28 derived from the prewar 305 and the 61 derived from the prewar model 60. I always liked the flat top profile and headlight better on the 61, most 61's I've...

No more regret: Hoover Powermax find

Broomvac... I have this same PowerMax, and mine does not have a bag topper either. I'm almost certain this one did not have a topper. As you pointed out, it was the BOL model. Finding a PowerMax in such nice shape is somewhat difficult these days. The ones I usually see have extensive...

    1916? Spencer 313

I would never be able to pick it up, but for the central vac collectors out there, does the house have the original inlets, since you're ripping out the original unit would you consider pulling some of the original inlets out of the wall? Also, do you still have any of the original attachments...

One of the Rarest Vacuums in Existence

I would love to find a Frantz Premier, but they like the Western Electric Sturtevant are extremely rare nowadays. They were very much a luxury item in their day and I'm sure the few people did buy were melted down in the metal scrap drives of World War II.

    Hoover concept one

They should have masked off the fleur-de-lis on the front cover, and maybe spray painted the bag to match. Certainly something you don't see everyday.
