    Annual 'pilgrimage' coming up soon!!!!!

Well, if you do get into the factory I would love to see the empty vault room. Just knowing that room held all those valuable prototypes and "firsts" of every model Hoover produced.

I finally found my dream machine... the Hoover Model 150

Thank you for that information about the Hoover 150. I wonder if that was the only time Hoover "sold" vacuums to their employees that way. I read somewhere that in order to be an employee at the Ford Motor Company you had to purchase and drive a new Model T.

I finally found my dream machine... the Hoover Model 150

John, I would love to hear the story about the 150. It's a beautiful machine for sure.

    The Hoover model 29

Indeed I see sewing machines from the '40's all day long, but so see a vacuum that old is an extremely rare sight. Even if they're perfectly good, most of our customers want the latest and greatest when it comes to vacuums. Until now, about the oldest I've seen come in is a plastic base...

    The Hoover model 29

I answered my own question, at least in part Well, in all my years at this vacuum shop I saw a Hoover 61 come in this morning for the first time. I noticed the lens was pushed in which gave me a reason to pop open the hood. Wouldn't you know, it had a GLASS lens, so now I know the changeover...

    The Hoover model 29

If you could, I'd sure appreciate it. I'd love to know if the glass lenses were just for the model 60 or if the early 61's had them too. Even in glass, the lens is so narrow I don't think it broke that often.

    The Hoover model 29

Thank you John, you are a treasure trove of Hoover knowledge. I always wondered about production dates on the model 29. At work, we have a bunch of headlight lenses from Hoover 61's, model 60 probably used the same, but I noticed some are plastic, others are glass. Could it be that the model...

    Oreck magnesium sold at Walmart!?

The only thing I find a little weird about the Magnesium RS is that it has a little battery in the handle and the switch is actually a remote that tells the vacuum to turn on to high or low speed. The earlier version (LW-100) just had a chrome button in the middle of the handle to turn it to...

    The Hoover model 29

Model 29 I've often wondered where the model 29 fit into Hoover's line-up. Was it a less expensive alternative to the model 62? I've never owned a 29 but I assume they all have shake-out bags correct? When was the 29 discontinued? I'm assuming 1950 was the first year they were offered...

Anybody Know About Lubricating Stuck Fans? It’s a Weird One.

Kano Kroil We use this miracle lubricant at work. It frees up sewing machines that have been bound up for years! If this can't free it up, it CAN'T be done. www.kanolabs.com

    What is your favorite Hoover?

For me, it was, is, and will always be the Hoover that ushered in the generation of clean air uprights, the Dial-A-Matic! Though it had its weaknesses it was a venerable performer and holds a special place in my heart.

    We just decided. . .

The real pity is how much people spend (and will continue to spend) on Dyson vacuums. Had James Dyson used non-stretch belts in those clutches (as well he should've for all the money they cost) that would be a common issue eliminated.

    How do U vacuum?

I know I would!!! You have an impressive collection of Hoovers as well as Hoover appliances and other Hoover memorabilia. It would be a great way for others across the country to see and appreciate.

Is it ok to post a maintenance question?

Purely cosmetic That cover is just a trim panel that pivots back and forth as the handle is raised and lowered. I don't think it could be reinstalled correctly without pulling the machine apart. But no, it won't affect the functionality at all.

    TWO ON EBAY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Oh, what a person collects does not irritate me in the least. We're all here for a common goal - collecting vacuum cleaners. I myself have a small collection of Hoover Elites which are also somewhat rare nowadays because they were used and sometimes abused and many were put at the curb with...

    TWO ON EBAY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

I think it's not unimportant to note the fact that these machines are so rare because they were not the best build quality out of the starting gate. Most were in the garbage dumps by the early 2000's but now they've taken on a cult following because of the rarity. I think the same can be said...

    Long Shot......But Wanted:

Hospital G the "Holy Grail" of Electroluxes Really? I would've thought the model V since it was the first. I would give my right eye for one with or without detachable runners. I wouldn't mind a Hospital G, but not more than a model V.

Vintage Braun appliances - any fans?

I've always liked their shavers. My favorite are the old 2000 series cord models (like the 5422 & 5428) with the pivot motor. They could power through anything. It was so good, about 10 years ago Shavetronics made a clone called the ST-50 60 second shaver. Sadly, the casings they used were...

Hello Stringbean, The vacuum is an Electrolux 2100 from the late '80's. Great vacuum!

I miss "real" vacuum departments at stores!

Yes, I can remember going into Macy's as a kid and racing to the basement level "The Cellar" to see the vacuum display. It was so much fun to see the then-new Hoover Concept One & Celebrity out on the floor. We had a Dial-A-Matic and I always hoped my parents would spring for a new Concept...
