Regina Model 50 - Restoration in progress

I've never seen a Regina upright in person, and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Regina one of the last companies to offer a straight suction upright into at least the late '40's/maybe early '50's? I imagine they have to have decent suction especially with the nozzle being so thin.

    Kingston 6640

Sad how all that's left is the manufacturing plate.... I have that same Kingston I inherited from my aunt when she passed. She bought it right before moving to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1956. I acquired it in 1989. At some point the hose was changed from braided to vinyl, and I remember having...

    Old Christmas lighting

Bubble Lights!!! To me, there's nothing more exciting in the holiday light world than bubble lights. It's almost magical the way they "fizz." And the dizzying array of sets made throughout the years.

    Prolite value?

I have the Kenmore version which was called the E4. Same machine, but it has a twister cup "bag saver" on the back pipe. Don't remember seeing them at Sears very long....

Looks like a Frantz Premier in drag....

    Eureka and Sanitaire catalogs?

Years back I got an Igloo cooler that was I guess given out as a premium for the 10th anniversary of Sanitaire in 1981. It has decals on either side which make it look like an air conditioner, when faux woodgrain was all the rage.

Another 70s truck followed me home...

For something with such ridiculously low miles, chopping it up would be a TRAGEDY. I'm glad it will be able to continue to soldier on for its original intended purpose. I wish you the best of luck with it! - Hershel

    Oreck Fan Case

Truth be told, I don't think the company nor an aftermarket supplier will put in the effort anymore. I really couldn't say I feel Oreck is now a brand to be sought. 20 years ago, yes, but many other companies like Riccar have "built a better mousetrap" and built a more heavy duty 8 pound...

    The Dirty Fan question

I'd take a Riccar R25 over the now-discontinued Miele U1 upright in a heartbeat! For the weight of U1, I'd rather push a Kirby.

    Oreck Xl-9200s

Not really I have an Oreck XL200S with the same D shaped handle and step on switch. It was a trade in I rescued years ago when I worked at an Oreck store. The thing that intrigued me the most was that it had a patch that read "Oreck Supra" on the outer bag. Clearly a more deluxe option of...

Does the beautiful brunette come with it? 😉

    1923 apex vacuum

Yes, looks to be in fair shape, but it's missing a critical piece - the hose port cover. It was probably lost decades ago hence why the machine was relegated to the attic or basement since then. Unless you could fabricate another one the machine is pretty useless. Just my 2 cents.

    Bissell

Can you imagine if a fleet of these Bissells went down with the Titanic? I could definitely picture these cleaning the staterooms (in First Class anyway).

    Kirby ID

At least it still has its Sani-Emtor and not converted to that horrid F&G style zipper bag. This is the first time I've seen the manufacturing plate still on the machine with the serial number scratched up beyond recognition. If it was out at the curb I would save it from the scrap heap, but I...

    Hoover Elite 200

I worked at Woolworth's in their final days (summer of 1997) and we sold the Elite 200 for $69.99 and when it was on sale $59.99. Tools were an option (can't say I remember the cost of a standard tool kit). Even then I thought it was very BOL.

    Open question

A clean air upright is a bypass system where as the dirt reaches the bag BEFORE going through the fan. On a side note, Hoover sold the patents to Panasonic around 1978, which is why the Concept One came about. Not a bad cleaner, and some say it "corrected" some of the flaws the DAM had, but...

    Open question

Well, for me it's the Hoover Dial-A-Matic hands down. Launched in 1963, it was the world's first clean air upright. It was also the first vacuum with power drive introduced six years later. It's hose conversion was revolutionary at the time.

    Oreck CVR-4000

Yes, and no. I have a Whirlpool CVR-2000 that on the underside reads "Distributed by the Oreck Corporation." This vacuum (and the subsequent XL-4000 was made for Oreck by MacDonald electric in West Germany. It's really a fun little cleaner.

Kirby Company sold to Right Lane Industries

It happens when vacuum manufacturers no longer want to fit in with the times. It happened to Air Way 20 years ago, and frankly I can't figure out how Filter Queen is still holding on. They're DATED designs and as Tom already pointed out the customers who appreciate the tried and true are...

Kirby Company sold to Right Lane Industries

It's odd how at one time (pre-World War II) Kirby offered an "R" series to be sold in stores, and a "C" series to be sold through in-home demonstration. If they were to adopt that practice again, they MIGHT be able survive for awhile. But a new platform (still all-aluminum of course), lighter...
