Good eye! That isn't a Hoover bolt in the top handle. The previous owner must have lost the original and stuck threaded rod in to sell. An appropriate replacement will find it's way to the Hoover soon. Thank you very much for your advice on cleaning the bag. I will try this tonight.

Motor inside The commutator also looked wonderful! It could not have been used much and no sign of a ridge. I would say it will last me a good long while. The only thing that wasn't perfect is the musty smell in the bag. I wiped the vinyl pretty good but its still there. I guess I'll have to...

Fabric Paint? I have never done this but maybe fabric paint is an option. There looks to be enough of the old logo to have a good reference on filling the rest in, and any hobby store should have it. I have no idea how durable it would be though.
