Yes, but they're still great cleaners! If you tug on the hose at the wrong angle, the vacuum will lean and slump over on that side, prohibiting it moving! 

Progress!!!! Those G-Es (or any vintage General Electric appliance!) Are divine! General Electric used to really give a care! now-a-days, not even their 'top-of-the-line' models can bake a cake like their predecessors!
