I recently acquired this project- a Dirt Devil Ultra Vision Turbo from 2008. The same friends of mine that bought the crummy Dirt Devil Breeze I posted about in another thread gave it to me because it no longer worked "the belt started squealing and when we checked the brush had melted" Ok...

New Dirt Devil vacuums- Poor quality!

I enjoy new technology as much as anyone, but I can see the difference between quality and junk, and appreciate Made in the USA quality. I don't ever see the quality of new vacuums ever improving, we are living in a throw away society- It quits picking up, toss it to the curb and buy another...

New Dirt Devil vacuums- Poor quality!

I am up visiting friends, and the last time they came to our house to visit, they had mentioned tbey had bought a new vacuum (I had given them a Eureka F&G style a few years ago), and they hated buying bags. They weren't sure what brand what it was "it's red". Well, tuesday, I found out it was a...

6000 sq ft home and the need for clean

I can recommend you look into a Hoover Floormate for cleaning/scrubbing hard floors. I have one and it is wonderful, cleans far better than a mop and bucket. They can be had for about $150, less if you don't mind used. You are supposed to use *only* Hoover's cleaning solution, but I have had...

    Bissell Brush Roll

I'm guessing it is the standard length, I will dig mine out and measure it. I won't be able to ship it out until next week, I'm going out of town for a few days.

    Bissell Brush Roll

Is the vacuum a wide path model or standard? I have a standard one you could have for the cost of shipping.

An Early "Kirby Birthday Present" to Myself!

I can vouch for the fact that it is an -original- 1957 cord, gray with red ends. Glad it made it ok, and it looks GREAT with that genuine Kirby bag.

    Old "Stink Bombs"

I once trash picked a Kirby Classic III that had been used to vacuum up cat litter- Used cat litter! Nothing wrong with it except that it absolutely reeked. I washed the nozzle, brushroll, bag, and emptor, and it doesn't smell at all. I also hate getting vacuums that smell like dog or cigarette...

    Hoover U5262910

I had a green one (My favorite color), and it was a pretty good vacuum. Fairly quiet, lightweight, good suction. My only issue with it was that it was a major pain to change the belt (If I remember right, either 8 or 10 screws), and the attachment clip that holds the wand and crevice tool...

    kirbys old & new

Any real purpose of the switch being moved up to the handle of the Comvac, rather than the traditional foot switch, or was it done just to make it different from Kirby's home use machines?

Also surprising that there is no switch, I can see now why you mounted a switch to the handle.

    kirbys old & new

Thanks! Quite a bit different from even a 500 series. No bottom plate or belt guard. Looks like you need a new brushroll though!
