    Air-Way question

VacMadMan is correct about separating the handle from the fan housing. I took my Air-Way Super Chief to a vac store friend where I live. In trying to separate the two, (the Super Chief had a metal handle), he cracked opened the joint in the metal. He thought I was going to flip out but I just...

    Hoover Model 63 Renovation

Kyle, Very impressive and very nice jobs! Looking at your pictures reminded me of how many of those I have done. They have all moved on to other homes but your photos make me wish I still had them! At one of the conventions you should have a restoration clinic.

Aerus/ Lux uprights then and now

The upright is the canister motor vertically placed instead of horizontally. The newer uprights have more powerful suction due to higher RPM's and fan blade design. The drawback on the upright is the bottom fill bag---the dirt is always in front of the motor creating the suction so the bag...

Hoover Model 67 Convertible For Sale

Thanks Mike! From your pics you have some beautiful vacs too. As you know, I'm downsizing a bit and keeping just my favorites. More will be popping up here in the next few weeks. Hopefully the 67 will end up some place where it can be show cased a bit---since two went into the making of this...

Hoover Model 67 Convertible For Sale

I did not win this at the convention in N. Canton. It came from another collector with expenses involved some number of years ago. I thought this was the Supermarket? When I went to make the post, I clicked on the Supermarket section and did the listing. Maybe someone can move it for me...

Hoover Model 67 Convertible For Sale

I am selling this Hoover 67 convertible. Before putting it on Ebay I thought I would see if there are any interested parties here. It is in excellent shape and all nearly all original. The switch has been replaced as well as the agitator. The new agitator is genuine Hoover. See photo. The...

Advice on purchasing A filter Queen

I like the Compacts and even the newer Tri-Stars. I've had many models and currently use the CS with the HEPA bag. For me, it is a much cleaner system than the Filter Queen. Even the new power nozzles made by Aerus are IMO, are better than the FQ.

Vacuum that pick up bowling ball?

When I was selling a cannister vacuum for Rowenta on QVC, (the 8 lb., 8 oz., Rivo), I devised an attachment to pick up a fish aquarium and a 60 lb. hassock. Its all about the physics of the attachment. Many current canister vacuums could pick up a compact car if the attachment was a flat panel...

Plastic fans on older Hoover convertibles?

Replacement plastic fans for convertibles have available for years. Much the same way replacement fans for early Kirbys are now only plastic. According to some sources, the plastic fans for the Hoovers were better than the originals due to the improved design of the fan. Better suction and...

What the best/your favorite "mainstream" vaccums and brands?

Its a tie between my Aerus Guardian Platinum and my Tri-Star CS. But, I like to use the same power nozzle on both which is the Tri-Star version with a genuine Lux brush roll that came with the Lux 6000 upright retrofitted. It is the version with the lime green nylon brush strips that are...

Vacuums you find or found to be scary?

An interesting twist on this----I was never scared of my mother's vacuums which included Hoover, Electrolux and Kirby in my youth, I was scared of my mother.

    Vacuums you think look alike.

Not very sturdy, not a particularly good cleaner, awkward at best and deafeningly loud! I had a NOS one, (still in the box), about 15 years ago and parted with it shortly thereafter. Looking like a Kirby is where the comparison should stop!

    The PERFECT Electrolux Commercial upright

Is that last post for real, or some kind of joke? I don't post here very often and have not been aware of the "politics", of this site for some time. I do know former Presidents of the VCCC are mostly thrown under the bus ie: myself, Tom Gasko, R.J. Vanik, Richard Klein, etc., for reasons...
