They should add a locking device on the switch so you have a choice of using it as a trigger for a quick clean up or locked on for a longer cleaning session.

Oh yes it will work but the performance will not be as good as on porous carpet. I'd like to see Bill carry out tests so we can compare the results and compare it to other cleaners on non porous carpet.
