I am in agreement with Tom Air-Way, and Filter Queen have great straight suction rug nozzles. Rexair (Rainbow) had an awesome straight suction nozzle, as did the Hoover Portable (suitcase model).

A clog would be my thought too. Other thought is that the Fantom was not well know for durability.

We had a Hoover Concept where I worked that had a hand held vacuum attached. You took the cord off the big vacuum and put in on the little one to do the edge cleaning.

I didnt think I heard they were ending production of the corded vacs, I think they are ending development of new corded vacs.
