    Early birthday gift

I..... dunno Zach....sometimes the people around you don't take the time to really find out which particular hobby item you might REALLY want etc. Doesn't make them 'bad' people necessarily. However, the friends with the same hobby addiction are the most likely to give you a 'present'...

    Looking for Electrolux

They... routinely go through ebay....but you'll pay a bit, especially with shipping. Depends on how much you value vacuum collecting, I guess. Compared to other hobbies I have, non-rare vacuums are still comparably cheap. The turquoise G is my favorite and yet I've warmed up to the two 1205's...

Fun..... project. How cool is that; two boys 14,15 on a vintage vacuum site...wow?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Daniel!! Kevin

In Need of Some Advice Re: Lux Model XXX Motor

An.... electric motor is an electric motor. Pull out the commutator, check for any winding irregularities with an ohm meter, clean groves in the commutator where the brushes touch and then polish the surface, replace brushes, replace the bearings with the proper type and clean everything back...

Does it bother someone else at your house?

Show.... your LUX!! I don't know what to tell you, because I'm a bachelor. But.....my two sons and most of my friends think my old vacuum cleaner interest is 'weird/bizarre'. I'm sorry for them that they didn't find pleasure in running vacuums as boys. I couldn't believe when I found this...

    Lux Collection to Date

I..... remember the G from your pics before....it was near mint! Agreed, you need a 1205 in there.;-) I've really warmed up to my two-their suction is phenomenal! I now think the 1205 is a very cool transitional piece to have-especially if you have older LUX's. Kevin

Beatty Brothers / Keeping it Clean.

Awesome..... thanks for the pics! I'm not a Kirby authority in any way, shape or form.....but was the Beatty design similar, cloned, 'borrowed' etc?

Beatty Brothers / Keeping it Clean.

Wonderful story about the town and the company. I was somewhat involved in the narrow gauge train that runs from Durango to Silverton,CO. I believe it's the only continuously operating steam narrow gauge left in the States. I think there are two others still in Canada? Yes, does anyone have an...

    A Treasure From My Childhood- - - - - - - -

Dan, From what we learned here, it wasn't uncommon for a G to have multiple PN ports. Usually, another port was added by the LUX dealer....as I'm not sure any came from the factory with multiple ports? Possible somebody could confirm; when they were changing over from the front to the right side...

"Nice Lux G! I'll do ANYTHING for a Lux mdl G. The G & XXX & LX are my dream Lux vacs." Hmmmmm....anything?? Kevin

    electrolux automatic g

Don't..... fall for that necessarily. That's an old Net ruse; post something crazy or illegible and then play the sympathy card later, when the feces hits the fan. Part & parcel to the Net def of 'troll'. Indeed-the 'whole' sister should have written her sister's thoughts so that we may have...

    Electrolux Model G

My...... favorite machine & color.;-) As far as paint, you can try to get an epoxy or oil to match. I don't think you will just find it, per say. The bumper of the correct color is unobtainium....consider a pristine donor with maybe a bum motor and rob its parts. As far as restoration...

Excuse..... me?? Are you saying that when you plug it in, nothing happens....or did you forget to put a bag inside? Kevin

    Electrolux

As..... I discovered here recently, even the turquoise Model G had some variants. Some had the PN connection in the front....some (like mine) have the PN port just ahead of the right, front wheel; with the front wheels pushed back a bit from the early models. And some had the PN port installed...

will the real electrolux please stand up !

It's.... too bad that this isn't the rare case where all the ex-employees got together and reformulated/refound Electrolux. Probably the powers at be made sure no one on earth could ever use the name again-legally....which would cripple a new start of an old name. These ventures rarely work...

The most gorgeous Montgomery Ward you'll ever see!

I..... guess I don't know what to say. On the one hand, I'm glad that vintage vacuums have finally gotten their due. But for the elite collection-ist....they tend to set the bar and everybody else scrambles to have a 'mint', 'new', 'excellent condition', 'rare', 'perfect working', 'one of a...

will the real electrolux please stand up !

It's.... interesting with your dad at he helm, how LUX tried different things. I never heard about the 'fixing all brands' endeavor. I've always hated the door-to-door sale routine. Kirby tried to suck me into that back in the 70's when I was down on my luck. Started off with huddled masses in...

will the real electrolux please stand up !

Yeah..... the history of the Greenwich Plant is amazing. All the generations of 'families' that worked there, their contribution to the local community & state and of course to the products they produced there that are still endearing today. It was most definitely Electrolux's finest hour...

    Electrolux

I..... stop at the 1205, but owned a new Diamond Jubilee in the mid 80's. I think exposed, shiny metal is the best thing about the old LUX's.;-) Kevin
