Now how often do you see...

The second one has been on for quite some time.  It looks like it was just relisted but for $25 less.  I would really like to have one as nice as that but I can't justify spending that much money.

    My Childhood GE Vacuum Cleaner....

A mystery solved! I have had this tool for the longest time and never knew what kind of vacuum it came with until seeing these pics!

    Who here..

I've never had a broken fan, but then I've almost always used a cannister/cylinder type vacuum!

    Take a look at these....

Ben, good luck with your treasure hunt!   Charles, you should write a book about what you have gone through in the name of vacuum love!

    My Childhood GE Vacuum Cleaner....

I hope you get it!  If the seller isn't willing to take it to a pack-and-send place maybe a Chicago area member here could help you.  Finding something with such a strong memory/attachment from our childhood means the world to people like us!

    information requst

Is it like this one?  The Dustette was offered for quite a few years and had several variations.  Old cloth bags become fragile and washing them is very risky at best.  I'd suggest carefully turning the bag inside out and vacuuming it to remove the accumulated dust.  Unless there is evidence of...

    Kirby Rebuild?

Another thing to consider about the factory rebuild program is that the vacuum will come back with the current replacement cord, trim, bumper, bag etc which are not the original green color of your D80.  If you don't feel comfortable attempting to do the repairs/replacement parts yourself then...

I haven't seen one of these in a while!

Rear brakes first! Yes, it's a brake, to prevent the cleaner from rolling backwards when cleaning stairs.  (Picture the cleaner's back end resting on a step and the front on the the step above)

    Kirby Rebuild?

The special price for factory rebuilding is for original registered owners only.  If you're just looking to get the metal parts buffed back to a shine you could do it yourself, or take it to your local Kirby repair center.  The one near me at least will polish a machine for a small fee.  If you...

Oh, so YOU got it! I don't really need another XXX but I thought seriously for a minute about bidding anyway just for that hose!

What vacuums do U regret getting rid of?

The two vacuums I miss the most are a Hoover 28 and a turquoise Electrolux G.  The Hoover was in virtually pristine condition without a scrath on it.  Even the beautiful striped bag had a crisp newness about it.  The Electrolux was also in excellent condition and was so blissfully quiet.

    Royal Toggle Switch

You should be able to find one that will work without any trouble.  Any well-stocked electrical department should have them.

    Local Craigslist Screenshots

"lifted" pictures What a sham!  They couldn't even be bothered to lift two pictures of the same machine instead of two totally different models!

    General Electric Canister on Ebay!

Stunning! That looks like it would still smell new!  I'm way over-budget this month otherwise I'd be in jumping into the bidding war for that prize!

    Looking for Electrolux

Given their popularity among vacuum collectors, if a model G in pristine condition shows up on ebay be prepared for a bidding war.  There are still a few likely to be found hidden away in some grandma's closets so never miss an opportunity to rack up some good karma and stay on good terms with...
