    Royal Vacuum Woes

I have a similar Royal and when I bought the new belt I accidentally put it on backwards. I ran it for a few minutes (yes, I'm slow) and realized what I had done. I opened it up and put it on correctly. I tried it again and it was acting like it did with the old belt. 2 minutes and a burning...

I used to make fun of these...

Dang, I saw one at a Thrift store for $30 a few months ago. I passed out of ignorance!

    Riccar Supralite Vacuum

Oops I should have clarified my question. I meant what would be the best way to get the correct belt from this store? I was trying to avoid ordering online to patronize the local "Mom & Pop" store and also get it quicker. BUT, I can only go so far I guess... :)

    Riccar Supralite Vacuum

So I decided to go buy bags and a new belt for my Riccar today. I had tested it with the existing bag (almost full) and belt, which I could tell was slipping. I went to my local shop and told the owner what I needed. He was very helpful as always, but for some reason sold me the wrong belt. I...

    Riccar Supralite Vacuum

I managed to get this today! I opened it up and it was clogged pretty bad courtesy of some large plastic tags inside. Once I clear those it works great! Would love to know the bag conversion for the similar Simplicity model. This is the RSL2. Thanks!

    Riccar Supralite Vacuum

Thanks for the quick reply! I had a feeling I should have bought it -- even carried it around the store for awhile. Ended up putting it back where it was where I found it. Undoubtedly tomorrow it will not be there. Things go quickly here. :(

    Riccar Supralite Vacuum

Hey guys! Quick question - I saw a Riccar Supralite Vacuum Model RSL2 today at the local thrift store for $30. It appeared to be in great condition and worked fine. I passed though because the brief web search I did on my phone didn't turn up much (was worried about the cost/availability of bags...

    Oreck XL with Bad Motor

Thanks for the tip! I see the two brushes on eBay but they seem to sell for $35 or so. If I can find them for the price you say then I'll try it -- but those eBay prices are too high for a "maybe" (if you know what I mean). If I check a local vac shop do you think they'd be less?

    Oreck XL with Bad Motor

The belt was already toast when I opened it up. I can spin the motor and it seems to move freely. I feel like it has something to do with the electrical charge spinning the motor (like it's not getting juice). I did see some white flashes coming from inside (which led me to the copper (or is it...

    Oreck XL with Bad Motor

Greetings Gents! I picked up an Oreck XL Commercial vacuum today on the cheap....and I see why. Although the unit itself is in good condition, the motor is bad. When I first turned it on I got white smoke and very little movement. I opened it up, took the motor out (wires still attached) and...

Kirby 515 "Metal Box" under bag?

Thanks for the info! Indeed, my unit uses the F&G bags as well.

Kirby 515 "Metal Box" under bag?

Howdy! I bought a Kirby 515 a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it a lot. I was just looking on eBay and someone has one for sale with pictures. I was surprised to see a metal box that mine does not have. It is a box that the bag attaches to, and then the box attaches to the nozzle on the...

    Kirby 561

I'll second the request -- what do you polish them with??? I just bought a 515 and would love to have it look like a mirrored finish!!! Is it steel wool and sand paper???

Last call to claim some crappy old vacuums

If this were an edit button, I'd click it and then modify the above message to just say "thanks" since I found that contacting you by email is the best way. ;)

Wow! I'm in the LA area (near Pasadena). How can I contact you? VERY generous, by the way! :)

Trying to date a Dialamatic PowerDrive

Actually, I mistyped that. "Turn push" is incorrect. I just meant to type "push that disengage button down." Sorry for the confusion! As to the purpose of it (other than to remind us how well the powerdrive works), I have no idea. I do know sometimes if you want to go over a small area over and...

Trying to date a Dialamatic PowerDrive

I am curious. I found a U6007 in the trash. I replaced the belts and it works great (the light bulb still works too). Any idea what year it came out? It does have the powerdrive in it (and that works surprisingly well too...turn push that disengage button down and you can really tell the...
