Oh Dave. All these years I have tried to remember what vacuum my next door neighbour had and thats it! Mrs Davidson's was light blue. It would hang flat on the back of the laundry room door.
Wow, it has a huge bag for the size of the machine. If I remember correctly, it was fairly quiet.
I was at an auction last night and just reconized the body of the machine as a compact and not the powerhead.
I wasn't sure the two went together. It was cream colour body and had the see thru attachments with the speckles. The vacuum sold for $80.00. It was owned by an old lady and had little...
Yes there is a spot for a power nozzel to plug in.
I tried to take a pic of the bottom lettering but the camera couldn't pick it up.
Its a two speed too!, again, the heaviest vacuum I have ever picked up, just unbelievable in weight.
Does anyone know anything about it?
I was painting for a lady today and she was throwing it out. She said I could have it.
I cannot believe how heavy it is. The only parts I got were the ones shown. It is made in the USA for Simpson Sears, so it is a Canadian model for sure. Its like lifting a...
I have lived with a Kirby for a year.
I was suprised to see so much sand and fine dirt. It is like a beach in there. Not much hair or popcorn, the Kenmore gets that. I was just amazed at all the grit that must have been down deep in the carpet. The Kenmore works great but for deep down clean, I...
I have lived with a Kirby for a year.
The Kenmore is the beast of burden with a full bag always, so after almost 6 months I was wondering what the Kirby had picked up.The bag seemed pretty full, almost to the line where it says to change it.
I found Kirby sitting beside the road with free on him with extra bags and belts. He had a cracked fill tube but in perfect working order.
I played with him a couple of times till his switch went in November. In January I sent him in for repairs and got him out about the second week. I use him...
The Ambassador.
One last picture.
I am not a big fan of cannister vacs. I find they are hard on my back. This vacuum has a really long wand, it is taller than the handle of the Kirby. I found it really easy to use. I would think a short person would find it uncomfortable.
The Ambassador.
Here it is after being sterilized, sanitized and disinfected.
I like this vacuum a lot. Very quiet, the suction could be better because of the condition of the hose, powerhead works great. To start it you have to hold the front in first to make contact and then away it goes...
I will put it all back together tomorrow. I think the vacuum just needs a hinge and it will be fine, but the hose is toast.
I noticed all day it kept get more bulges in it and there are some weak spots. I think that black stuff coming out is the inside of the hose. I probably didn't help things...
Too far gone?
I tried putting the hose on the port, still no air coming out.
Tried it on the vacuum, a big slurp and it started to suck in air!
Quite a nasty clog.
Too far gone?
I cleaned out the powerhead and it had the same wood fibers and fur in it. I didn't know these vacs still had a blower port.
I was looking at the back, found it on the top. Tried blasting the hose that way, no dice.
Whatever Satan sucked up and jammed the hose with, I can't get it...
Too far gone?
I took a bent clothes hanger to the hose and knocked out some wood fibers? The black grit almost looks like the stuff on shingles.
I ended up cutting my finger so I moved on to using the shop vac.
