I don't notice any kinking I just put the late model Sentria II hose (part #190316) on my DS50 emtor and don't see any kinking when I pull the tube all the way back to simulate canister mode. This hose connects to the F-Style Adaptor (#190408). What tube are you using that is somehow better...

Which fill-tube kinks? I'm using the late-model hose for the Avalir with the 2 5/8" opening at the bottom and 2 1/2" at the top. That's what Kirby uses in canister mode, so they must not consider any kinking to be much of a problem. What fill-tube are you using instead of the Kirby part?

Grey Bag in the works! Hey David, I'm working on a reproduction gray bag that will have the original Kirby logo from the 560 on it. The only bag I've seen that has the old logo with vertical lines outside would be the $200 bag made by Chicago Mike. However, he hasn't responded to any of my...

    New Simplicity Synergy Ultra Premium

Sold! Thank you Ebay (and Tom, for selling it to me), my Simplicity is now history. I do have a Panasonic MC-661 I'm in the middle of restoring, including all new motor and brush roll bearings. It will be in mint condition when I'm done. I'll probably sell it at that point, so if anyone is...

    New Simplicity Synergy Ultra Premium

Simplicity "Symmetry" is correct I messed up the description due to excessive multitasking. And I managed to put this thread in the Contemporary section rather than the Super Market, so maybe the admin can move it for me. Yeah, I've gone full Kirby and now I have two restoration jobs I have...

    New Simplicity Synergy Ultra Premium

Hey Everyone, I'm selling my Simplicity Synergy Ultra Premium and a box of hepa bags for $300, plus shipping. It's basically brand new. I've used it a few times, enough to barely fill about 1/8th of the first hepa bag (see pic). The only reason I'm selling it is because I've gone full...

What's the correct Kirby 560 bag?

What's the diameter of that original logo? Charles, thanks for posting those pics of your original bag. Do you know the exact outside diameter of the Kirby logo on your bag? I may just make my own at this point.

What the heck is this thing?

Check out this ridiculous "prototype" for sale on Craigslist. Does anyone know what this thing actually is? April Fools Day is coming up, but this ad posted on the 21st, so it can't be a joke. Or is it? https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/atq/d/long-beach-vintage-vacuum-cleaner/6847320917.html

how are Kirby bearings grease packed

How did that transmission rebuild turn out? I'm interested to learn how you greased and re-assembled this Kirby transmission. Did you notice a difference in noise and smoothness after completing it? How difficult was it? Were there any weird parts that you managed to replace, or did you just...

What's the correct Kirby 560 bag?

I just bought this old Kirby 560 that appears to be in very good original condition, including the original power cord. It was owned since new by a little old lady who died recently. Note the faded bag design with the Kirby logo and vertical stripes off the logo. I thought this design was...

Does anyone live in Bellevue, WA?

Mission accomplished! She finally got back to me and now I have my first DS 50 on the way. Not bad for $99, huh? Apparently, the original owner sent it to Kirby for a rebuild in August, 2008. They got it back, used it a couple of times, stuck it in a closet, and then . . . . . . died. It...

Does anyone live in Bellevue, WA?

I'm trying to buy an old Kirby from someone in Bellevue, WA, and get them to ship it to me in SoCal. However, this person is clueless and apparently unable to remove the handle and box the machine up for USPS. Are there any Vacuumland members who live nearby and would be willing to grab it for...

    Kirby Odorific vs. Scent Tablets

Kirby sells two different kinds of scent products: Kirby Odorific and Scent Tablets. Has anyone compared both methods? I'm wondering which one would work best with Kirby charcoal hepa bags.

Rebuild brush roll for Panasonic MC-661

I figured it out . . . You have to grab the shaft with vice grips and then just turn the end cap and it spins right off. I had to use a bearing puller to get one of the bearings off the shaft after I removed the c-clip. Inside are (2) 626z bearings. Both make noise, so they definitely need...

Rebuild brush roll for Panasonic MC-661

I'm in the middle of restoring a Panasonic MC-661, which I believe is the very first Jet-Flo sold in the U.S. I'm trying to change the bearings in the brush roll but can't figure out how to finish disassembling it. One end cap unscrews, but I can't get the screw on the other side to turn or...

    Sanitaire S675A video review

Hi Jenny I watched your video and I'm surprised you didn't like the Enviro-Care hepa bags. Bill at VacLab has tested them and he says they have similar performance to OEM bags. Aside from their construction, I was wondering if you've noticed any difference when you tried them on your machine.

What's the best screw gun for restoring vacs?

Hey vacuumdevil I was about to buy this Bosch brushless PS32 on amazon when I saw your post. It's interesting about the difference between a mechanical and electric clutch for driving low-torque screws into plastic. I'd like to find a brushless unit and the Bosch only weights 2 lbs. Which...

How do I disassemble Matsushita motor?

Hey everyone, I bought a Panasonic 661 on Ebay and now I'm in the middle of my first restoration. The noisy motor bearings have to be changed, so I removed the Matsushita 2V-531M motor and started to tear it down, but I can't get the damn thing to come apart. I drilled out the four rivets...

What's the best screw gun for restoring vacs?

I need to buy a screw gun for general purpose duties as well as rebuilding vacuum cleaners. My natural inclination would be to just buy a Bosch, but which model? Or, is there a better brand? What's the best screw gun for restoring vacs, especially Kirby's? Does anyone have a suggestion?
