Start with super fine 000 steel wool, then Flitch polish. The buffing wheel of a Kirby Handi Butler on the flexible shaft works wonders, followed by some towels to wipe away any residual film.

off the beaten path
Yes,the reason beater bars work with airlifted carpets is the carpet is lifted to the nozzle and the tap, release, tap, release action of the bars cause the carpet to flutter or vibrate from the several thousand RPM action of the bars. But on glued down carpets they act more...
Home ,home on the vacuum range
Wonderful! Thanks for posting this! BTW,would you be so kind as to possibly post the instruction book under owners manual section? I saw one awhile back and that cover shot of little miss priss 1968 posing daintily from the distance as she admires that gleaming...
Beats! Shakes! Sweeps! Combs! Suction Cleans!

1958 was great
I have a 518 Kirby all original, even the cord and bag though the cord is a little "frayed" in spots. Other then that ,the Kirby is in great shape, price negotiable.
I'm around
I was filling in Royaler, you may have talked to Grumpy Lumpy, the repairman there who wants to hang on to everything. I'm actually on my way over there now. I will call you when there.
We go back to the 1950s,even have Constellation felt secondary filters,Sunbeam orange bags, Singer bags from the 70s, etc. Call if interested. Lots of Hoover metal fans for Convertibles also. Hoover parts are BIG around here but not pre WW II.
Hey gang,I've been filling in at a Milwaukee vacuum shop, noticing scads of very hard to find out of date parts as I clean. It's an Oreck shop that has for years and years carries lots of other things. Their number is 414-769-8787.
