Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

Robert: Talented you! I don't do much with clothing, other than repairs/alterations, because it's just not worth my time to go through all the painstaking stuff needed for menswear. But give me some yardage and a window to dress and I'm happy.

    Electrolux Model L hose

Erik: While the genuine Aerus hose may be special order, $100 is also the going rate for a genuine Aerus hose for the later machines, so they aren't gouging you. Aerus's hoses are of very good quality; I'd just bite the bullet and go ahead and order one. It solves your problem, it keeps...

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

Robert: Someone else who sews? My pride and joy is a Singer Touch-Tronic 2001, in the TOL cabinet. I use it for curtains, upholstery, alterations and the occasional repair when a seam lets go in a $60 polo shirt that was worth more like $9.95.

    Electrolux Model L hose

TotalVac Isn't.... ....Your only option on this hose. Here's a link to another eBay-based supplier with a similar one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Hose-for-Electrolux-Models-G-L-AF-w-Pigtail-/360090262496?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53d70d5be0 And a Model L can also use the...

One more use for your vacuum . . .

"Krogering" Yeah, well.... They dropped that campaign once customers started saying, "I'VE BEEN KROGERED!" after getting their purchase total at the checkout (till). It's not easy to come up with an advertising slogan that consumers can't use against you. I can't tall you how many times...

One more use for your vacuum . . .

Hoovering:.... ....DOES have a meaning in the U.S. It's just not a polite one - much as the word "shag" does not usually bring up thoughts of carpet in the U.K.

    My Top 10 Best Vacuums

Just Curious: Just wondering why you have the TriStar grouped together with Electroluxes? TriStars are very different in design to Luxes.

    Mini-PN for TriStar CXL?

Khoi: My tip about the PN starting while holding it is based in painful experience. On my 1205, the hose is NOT live if the cleaner is switched off, and I only attach or remove the Sidekick if the cleaner is switched off, because it's altogether too easy to forget if the switch is on or off...

    Mini-PN for TriStar CXL?

Khoi: I have no explanation for the lack of a power switch on the later Sidekicks, but I do have a fast, easy solution: Get an earlier Sidekick that does have the feature. I consider it essential, because if you attach a Sidekick while the hose is "live" and the brushroll starts turning, the...

I'm pretty sure electrolux type c bags are NOT a rare find....

Well.... What IS getting a little hard to find is Electrolux-branded "C" bags, for display purposes. I have a lucky-find stash of them, but other bags are used for daily-driving purposes. I have both yellow-topped Electrolux-branded "C" bags, and the later grey ones.

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

P.P.S.: At the White House, the collection of antiques there includes a large number of antique rugs, so valuable that - like all the house's historical holdings - the Smithsonian oversees their care. To keep the rugs in their best condition, copies are made (usually by V'Soske in New York)...

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

P.S.: There is one point on genuine TriStar (DXL and earlier machines, including Compact) rug tools that is important to know: Their brush strips are replaceable, and it is important to keep them in good condition if you want the tool to be capable of doing its best work on a rug. It is also...

Vacuuming Carpet vs. Area Rugs: same thing or different requirements?

Rug Tool! On rugs with any tendency to shed, or a braided Colonial-style rug, I would use a rug tool, and vacuum frequently. A valuable Oriental is too large an investment to shred with a PN. A well-designed rug tool, like those on metal bodied Luxes and on the TriStar CXL, does a great...

    Thanks to Tyler! (pnluxconvlver)

I just wanted everyone to know what a great thing Tyler did for me. After learning that I had a PN-2 in trouble with a bad motor, he sent me a PN-2 he'd decided not to use in his own collection. It had a nearly new aftermarket motor in it, meaning that after some parts-switching, my PN-2 is...

    Window shopping . . .

Venson: There were multiple vacs used in Gattaca, so perhaps this still could be one of them. The seller's location, Southern California, is consistent with movie use; stuff finds its way out of studio prop shops all the time. However, it would be incumbent upon the seller to prove that...

    Window shopping . . .

Chromed Compact Could be a promo, but it also MIGHT be a prop from the movie "Gattaca." That film used a Revelation that had been chromed. Charlie Lester's page on Compacts discusses it a bit and shows the cleaner as it appeared in the film. The photo appears identical with the eBay cleaner...

Kirby Color Change before full makeover

Rex: I think another problem with DTD stuff is that the differential is being eliminated. For a while, DTD machines were usually metal, very often cast metal, and that was a big difference between DTD and mass-market stuff. Now, even expensive machines like the new TOL Luxes are plastic...
