    Miele C3 - Thanks

Congrats! I've been super pleased with mine.

    Miele active airclean filter

I have the Miele HEPA filter and bought a big jar of active charcoal for about $12. If I start to smell anything I pour some charcoal on the ground and vacuum it up. The jar likely will last me years. It seems to do the trick.

Huge airflow differences in the recent vacuums

Interesting. It makes one wonder what the airflow curve looks like for cleaning effectiveness as at some point there is a law of diminishing return. Yesterday we finally got the last of our (significant) Christmas materials put away and I had a field day vacuuming all the tiny bits that broke...

All Tacony machines pass stringent CRI tests

Interesting Riccar canisters are Bronze, along with Sebo, and Miele does not make the cut.

how hot should the cord/plug get?

My house was built in 1937. Most of the outlets don't have a ground socket. My Miele C3 cord gets warm, but not hot. In fact, for the 17 years I've been in the house all high wattage cords get warm, like hair dryers etc... One of these days I may have the electrical redone in my house.

What's With The Hate On New Vacuums?

My Miele C3 is new and plastic but I love it. It is sealed no leaking exhaust and am hopeful it will last for many years. I've had several department store vacs they really degrade in cleaning power after only several years.

    Panasonic find!

I'm a big fan of '80's-'90's Panasonic vacuums. My wife still uses a commercial Jet Flo MC-6217 from the early 90's (made in Japan) she inherited from work when the cord developed a slight split. Other than my repairing the cord, no other repairs have been required other than a couple belt...

    Replaced my Kirby with....

Nice combo. I see you have the updated Miele hose and wand. I'm curious why Miele made the change? I have a very pimped out C3 but am still drawn to the Felix. I wish it had a light on the head and I would likely have one. You should be set for some time. Disappointing asbout the Kirby.

    SMELL IN MY DYSON

Charcoal is good for bagged machines as the smells in the bag get absorbed by the charcoal but who knows where the smells in the Dyson are trapped? Many bagless vacs need emptied nearly every use, and if still smelling after emptying it sounds like the plastic bits have absorbed the smell.

    Recommended Carpet Vacuum? Current Model.

In summary, a Miele C3 Marin canister with SEB 236 power head (low profile + headlight and on/off switch for power roll) and Parquet Twister hard floor head, + truly sealed HEPA system is your best best.

    SEBO x7

2 Requirements that have kept me away from SEBO... headlight (check) and on/off brush roll (?).

What do I think about robotic vacuums?

We vacuum connoisseurs who don't prefer bagless would have the same argument about the robots... the disgust of manually cleaning out a bin of nastiness, just on a smaller scale. Related, I can only imagine a robot's CFM is inferior to that of any bagless upright (much less bagged). It also is...

Internet censorship the new Tacony product!

"Thought leaders" "Are you serious or just being sarcastic?" Very serious. Especially in the age of social media where consumers frequently do significant on-line research before making a purchase >$100. Collectors or 'enthusiasts' (I'm more the latter than the former) tend to be very...

Internet censorship the new Tacony product!

Mr. John got pooh in his pants when he heard you were a collector. Marketers know collectors are the thought leaders and can make or break a brand. Their story may change. They'll probably mail you their top of the line product as a peace offering.

    Question about Latest Hoovers

Agreed. I did a deep clean of my Dyson and realized I was never going to do that again and went out and bought a bagged system.

Euro Eco Impacts to Miele? - new parts

I've come across some reviews recently posted that have revealed a different non-electric tube design and new turbo brush on the new Miele C3 Euro Eco versions - I think, based on the claims on the unit decal (example in link). These new parts appear to be associated with the launch of the...

    Miele upright vacuum

Some people prefer the raw beauty, thick steel and ease of shade tree mechanic repair of a 1960's-something muscle-car while others prefer the creature comforts of a modern day sports car. I think a similar concept here.

Public relations is tricky business. Sorry to hear of their path forward.

    Miele upright vacuum

"Kirby and miele are two different machines. Why are we comparing them?" US vs. Europe? Steel vs. Plastic? Old vs. New?c Non-sealed vs. Sealed? Which is Best of Best? Because people elect not to read the original question in the thread? Not sure...
