Very High Priced Vacuums - The Future?

When I had vacuum inspiration a couple years back I got a Miele C3 with every option imaginable (powered and unpowered), then doubled down getting a (used but mint condition) Dynamic U1 upright. They have been exceptional... but after dropping ~$1500 between the 2 units and accessories I still...

    Shark Rocket Duo Clean Ultralight

I have a Miele C3 and a U1 and an old early 1990's Panasonic upright. My wife hates my Miele's... the U1 is too heavy and the C3 canister is just her thing. She does like and use the Panasonic, but we only leave it upstairs. Scroll forward to a few weeks ago and I had my first vacuum...

    Are Miele 4D bags discontinued?

I noticed Miele 4D bags with smell protectant existed in 2017. I cannot find them anymore. I assume they are discontinued. Did they not work? Any background info on them? I’m about to order new bags and don’t want to miss the opportunity if they still exist.

Why are Carpet Cleaning videos so satisfying?

Response to gregvacs28 about Big Green "Is there two separate water tanks?" Yes, bottom one is clean water, top one is dirty water return tank. "Are they both removable?" Yes, easily removeable, the feature that sold me most on this vs. a Rug Doctor... easy to fill, easy to empty. "What...

Why are Carpet Cleaning videos so satisfying?

I guess I'm a loser for going for the cheap <$400 option of buying a Bissel Big Green. The back room carpet in our house where people and pets go in and out of a sliding door into the back yard looked about as bad as some of these 'before' photos in this thread. It had not been properly...

    Strange vacuum cleaner sale story

    You can't fix stupid.

    Miele FJM bag life span

I have the larger GN bag on a C3, my house is ~2400SF, but about 65% hardwood floors. We have a small dog that sheds small hair, and not too much of it. My bags will last 2-3 months if I fill them pretty full, which Miele bags are definitely capable of.

    Miele c2, c1, or u1

… another consideration is each tier of cannister has a longer cord than the lower version... and the U1 has a massively long cord. So if one has a larger home it really can be an important consideration.

    Miele c2, c1, or u1

I have both the U1 and C3. Interestingly (to me), I find myself using the U1 for quick jobs on my main floor and the C3 for upstairs, stairs, the finished basement and thorough/above ground cleaning (using the dust brush and other attachments). If I'm just going to have a single vacuum it...

    Miele U1 observations

Not Very Nice.... vacuumdevil, you need to get those trust issues looked at some time. … anyway, I enjoy the 2 horizontal button setup much more.

    Miele U1 observations

Two thumbs up for Miele corporate customer service. They mailed me the new handle with the 2 horizontal button at no charge. However as relhall surmised, dropping motor speed with the rotor running actually is the new design feature as my vacuum continues to do this with the brand new, new...

    Miele U1 observations

Thanks. Miele has responded and has asked me to send them a photo of the handle. Interesting the info plate calls out 10.7A in vacuum mode. I'm guessing the new ones don't do that?

    Miele U1 observations

"@tseg I said make sure the handle is made newer then April 2018." Thanks for the clarification. My first step was to send Miele corporate a note asking them to correct their known supplier/design deficiency in my vacuum now that they have the correction in market. In my opinion it is a...

    Miele U1 observations

Vacuumdevil, So are you saying a new handle assembly will have the motor staying at full speed even with the roller running? I found a newer $50 handle assembly where the roller switch toggles left/right vs. up/down. Is that what I am needing? "@tseg There was a small run where the switches...

    Miele U1 observations

Nice! I got the exact same model off that auction website about a half year ago. It was in mint condition, but a bit more than $60! I was just using it this morning before I shampooed a rug. While it definitely has weight 2 things I really like are the 360° front wheels so I find it super...

    Home air quality rants

Before I got my HEPA vacuum I would always get stuffy/sniffly when I would go to bed the evening of vacuuming, sometimes even when I was still vacuuming. With my Miele I get no such side-effect. Because my vacuum is so awesome and does not make me sniffly I vacuum much more which keeps the...

Just got the Bissell Big Green 86T3

^^^ I had actually ordered a Rug Doctor and then started to do a bit more research. Luckily I was able to change the order to the Big Green. I understand the Rug Doctor Pro X3 clean water reservoir does not detach? The modular tanks of the Big Green are fantastic. I wish I did some...

Just got the Bissell Big Green 86T3

My wife recently rescued a 1 year old untrained Puggle from her 'friend'. In 2 weeks it has devastated my carpets. Its my first pet outside of an aquarium. My wife insists we are making progress house-training this dog. Whatever. So I picked up a Bissell Big Green 86T3. My basement carpet...

Price comparison between the Miele's and the Shop-vac's

As mentioned, noise level is a big one. Also shop vacs have little regard to causing nicks and dings, they can be pretty big and klunky and without rubberized bumpers. Many shop vacs are bagless, so less ideal for those that are allergy prone.

Do you think canister vacuum sales will eventually end in the US?

There is a reason one of those stores you mention is on a path to insolvency. Mass merchants have to follow the data.
