    Any info on this vacuum?

Anyone have any info on the unit pictured? Uses a Nilfisk bag, mfg by Tecnica, Dalco service sticker. Outside of unit says M16, looks very similar to a Windsor or Advance in design. Lloyd

Fixing My Kirby G4: One Step At A Time

If you need any spare parts for that G4, we have many used. The axle breaking is common in shipment as most sellers do not drop the unit to its lowest setting when shipping it out, making the two front wheels bear the brunt of any box drop. We learned this the hard way :)

    vacuum trade in

In D2D sales getting the trade in out of the house significantly lowers the cancellation rate. Since D2D sales are subject to the three day recision, removing the "old" cleaner that "didn't work" eliminates the likelihood of the buyer going back to their "old" cleaner and cancelling the...

what is the best way to polish a kirby?

Bought all of our buffing material from Caswell. 3/4 hp buffing motor and stand ran about 300.00. I use black compound with a vented wheel for rough buffing (like the Kirby photo you posted), and white with a softer vented wheel for luster. Plenty of protection is a must (face shield...

    I bought one also.....

The new Onyx Rainbow is pretty cool. I had a chance to play with one a couple months back. I was not impressed with the switch on the hose handle though. It looked and felt like it would break easily, and pushed very hard. The power nozzle design is also very interesting with the spinning...

I just got the Brand new

I want one! Very jealous of that Vortech, congrats! I had the green/gray one and loved it, but there was a short in the hose that caused the hose to melt like a straw in an oven! Searched all over the internet to see if I could find one of the XR 3000 units, but it appears you may have...

    Best Brushroll for Pets

I have always been impressed with how the Riccar, Simplicity, Cirrus and Sanitaire metal brushrolls handle pet hair. It is very uncommon to see them wrapped with hair, like you see with the Kirby, Filter Queen, Oreck and other wooden brushrolls.

    Shop Vac for Claeaning Vacuums

Ditto... an old Filter Queen is perfect for this task. If you do go with a shop vac, definitely get one that takes a big bag. I thought I would try a bagless one at the shop, and it is disgusting and nasty to clean the pleated filter regularly.

Storage Unit Full of Vacuums (120+) in Chicago Area

So I picked up a dealer in Chicago about 6 months ago. 250 machines, and I could only carry 100 or so (in my trailer). Instead of paying to get rid of them at the waste yard, I rented a storage unit and stacked them floor to ceiling thinking someone would want to make a few bucks selling them...

Using a hand held steam cleaner to detail vintage machines

Steamers work great on parts like wheels, heavy plastics, inside nozzle heads, inside attachments, etc. Be very wary of steaming dark colored plastics, like blue, black or red, as the plastic can become discolored from the heat. If you do not place the nozzle of the steamer too close to the...

Is the Aerus (electrolux) brand disappearing?

Aerus... still has many options left. The franchise setup may not have been the best route to go. Dealers are really limited in not being able to offer any other brands, which is very difficult with a retail setup. They could go retail and still have a very competitive price point, or go...

    Kirby Tradition Question

Wow That gold one is quite a neat looking machine. I have always liked the look of the Kirby tradition when they are all buffed out. That royal blue really pops against the chrome (or viceversa)

Kirby Heritage II Sentra brushroll and metal polishing

You could always... avoid the cost of buying a buffer/polisher by converting a washer or dryer motor from an old appliance (1hp), adding a shaft extension, stack a couple of 8-10" buffing wheels, use white or tripoli buffing compound and hang on for dear life! Or, a more time consuming option...

    Filter Queen / Heartland Health Systems . . .

My take.. on the story...since much is missing, much can be assumed. Old Mrs Jones sets an appointment to get a free gift for taking a look at an air filtration and home cleaning appliance. Salesman shows up, does a demo, Mrs Jones likes the salesman, likes the product, and buys the machine...

    Filteropur upright

Filtropur is a bagless upright created by the former president of HMI (Filter Queen). He had an upright vacuum manufactured overseas that could be sold and pitched as the "new Filter Queen upright" to the thousands of Filter Queen customers he obtained through the years. The link to the...
