    Electrolux Disposable Bag Advertising

Charlie, Thanks for posting. What fun and it was really in their heyday as a product. EVERYONE knew who Electrolux was during that time period. I know many people had Hoovers, but that time period belonged to Air-Way and Eletrolux in our area. It was just a matter of WHAT model the family owned!

    Kenmore Model 19C

Kenmore Upright Thanks for sharing the pictures. That is the EXACT machine that was handed down to my parents when they were first married from my mother's grandmother. That would be my great grandmother. I remember how she told me when I was small, how much she disliked the machine and was so...

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

The hood color has grown on me. What I do like is that the base is not the common off white and the power cord has a color instead of a generic white. I can see these Convertibles looking good with the Tool set that was a little darker color instead of the white. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

Kirbyklekter, You are right, it might be around in 48 years, but I sure won't be around. The machine is in good condition. It always had a tag on the handle (and still does today) :do not lift by the handle:. The Hoover dealer made a point of telling us when we I purchased it for my mother-DO...

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

John, Thanks for the information. that is exactly what I was wanting to know. I really am ok with the bottom fill as I never leave dirt in the machine. I am ok also with the dusting tool suction, as you said, how dirty can someone's house be-well I could tell some stories here but I won't! I...

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

Eurekaprince, Thanks for the tip. Not sure if the 1070 and 1076 have a top fill bag. I do know when I was advised which hepa bag to use in my Hoover Dail-A-Matic, it made a big difference in the dust escaping and improved the airflow for the tools too. To be fair to Hoover, this machine is...

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

Thanks Tom. But what makes your choice a "better" choice? From my untrained eye, all Convertibles look alike except for the changes I noted over the years. It seems from old posts several collectors talk about the 1070 and 1076 being the BEST of the Convertibles. If that is true,is it just a...

    Hoover Convertible 1070 and 1076

Being in a "Hooverless" home situation as the bearing is going out on my Dail-A-Matic, I was thinking of seeking out a Convertible. Other than such obvious quality changes over the Convertible's long run, Why do many of the Hoover experts seem to to favor the model 1070 and 1076 Convertibles? I...

Is it bad to use a antique vacuum as a evey day cleaner?

I agree with John. I don't have a collection and I don't rotate. I just keep using the 3 old machines from my family. They still work great and no dust with their Air-Way bags. What I enjoy is how quiet their motors were even the 66 Air-Way will still lift the braided rug off the floor. My...

    Airway model 50

That is a cleaner sold in the old Firestone Stores. I remember seeing it in an old ad. I agree it does look very modern for the time. The ad was from the late 1940's.

    Picture of the Day

What model-29, 62 or 63? John, I was a little confused. I first thought it was an early model 29 with the colored tubes and converter without the elbow 90 degree turn and then I noticed the machine has a hand grip and the bag looks like it takes an insert. I thought the 29 had the cloth bag and...

    Picture of the Day

Oh if I could purchase a Hoover like the one in the picture today! I always thought the matching tubes and tools all finished in the same color were very smart. Also loved the hand grip and tool kit. The dusting tools had very little suction but who cares as they were so easy to use with the...

Eric Skau donates his huge collection

Hoover Lark Just noticed the Hoover Lark. What a example of 1950's Hoover quality. What a beautiful shade of red and the bag even looks like it is in excellent shape. I have never seen a Lark in that condition. WOW! Hans, I remember Mike had that Hoover canister right in his bed room in front...

Eric Skau donates his huge collection

Tom, What a very generous gift. I have never seen 2 Hoovers Canisters with the electric hose. I think Mike Hayes was the only collector that I knew who had one. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Wonderful Hoover treasures for sure!

    NOS Hoover DAM u6039 pics

Pre Motor filter Colby, I have tried a couple different pre-motor filters on the RED filter at the bottom of the compartment. They restricted the powerful air flow and suction in a negative way and I thought it would cause the motor to overhead or at least make it run hot. That RED wire...
