    Childhood Household Vac Acquired!

Hello Vaclanders! Well as the title suggests, to my surprise, I re-acquired the model vacuum cleaner my family used when I was growing up. It's a Eureka ESP, which we purchased in 1990 from a sadly recently-closed department store. The funny thing is that in my 16 years of thrifting and vac...

What year was this eureka made?

One of my own... I need the space! Hello! Funny to see my Eureka end up here. I haven't sold anything on ebay in a couple years, and they've really clamped-down on editing auctions once there's a bid. Here's some more pics of the machine, because I can't add them there, or add more details...

    It happened ...

Well if Eureka was bought by Midea, this was hopefully a better outcome than that. Bissell's quality is all over the place, but they have some nice products, and they have a large commercial line already.

    Electrolux Super J Advertisement

Here's the full kit Thanks Kenkart, I will get a pack of those and try them out. Aside from a wipedown, I haven't done much with the storage hassock. I won't pretend I know how the tools are to supposed to store under the lid. It appears someone added cheap plastic carrying handles to the...

    Electrolux Super J Advertisement

I actually very recently acquired this model! This is my first (working) Lux canister I've ever owned, and so far I really like it! Quiet, and works well. I bought this one because it seemed to be in good condition, and came with a storage hassock (which I know little about, so I don't know...

New Account (AGAIN); Last Bissell Machine Worth A Damn

Even today, the upright Bissell Big Green carpet cleaner that they've sold for a few years now is excellent. I've never used a portable carpet cleaner that worked anywhere near as well. Recently let a friend borrow mine, and they too were blown away by how great of a job it did erasing all the...

New old stock Bissell 3554B unboxing

Nice find! I was always fascinated by these growing up. Bissell had an idea that sure was ahead of its time. I wish Bissell would have evolved the bagged version of this further with follow-up models (your machine looks like it has several improvements incorporated already). Enjoy!

    cutest vac award?

"I think any Ridgid vac deserve the cutest vac award!" Sorry ridgidwd0670, Ridgid needs to back up their products with legitimate quality, along with usability, before they come close to being "cute." Ridgid's current line is a high-maintenance mess, which I would recommend to no one.

    shark may be in trouble

$16,000,000 is mere pocket change to Shark. Shark has exploded in popularity for two reasons: Aggressive marketing, and because they listened to the feedback of their customers, now sell easily-likable products.

    a new battery powered nozzle

I like the idea, but a more elegant solution for the battery pack would be welcome. Looks bulky. [this post was last edited: 6/20/2018-00:20]

What do I think about robotic vacuums?

My Neato is still going strong! I hope they continue to improve it. Still the smartest robot, but cleaning the filter can be messy. Fantastic for daily upkeep.

    Are cordless vacuums overrated?

The best ones are close, but still don't deep clean rugs They can be a fantastic supplementary cleaner. They're super convenient for bare floors, above-the-floor dusting, counter-tops, baseboards, and cleaning the car, but I agree with the consensus here that they can't compare yet to a corded...

    new turbocat pro

@n0oxy I made an adapter to use a longer hose and standard fitting tools with my Dyson Big Ball canister. I would love a Volt power nozzle. I've had my Turbocat for about a decade now, and at the time, nothing else came close to matching it. I wish the Volt was more affordably priced, but I...

    new turbocat pro

Love my Turbocat Zoom. I don't find the noise of it bad at all. I'll take a good power nozzle any day as well, but the Turbocats do an excellent job, and pair wonderfully with a Henry, or Dyson canister.

DIRECT AIR VAC VS CLEAN AIR VAC

My best carpet-cleaning vacuums are direct-air machines, but these days I find myself using bagless clean-air machines the majority of the time. I love the convenience and versatility.

    Eureka Vacuums 2007 Catalog (PDF)

Flashback! I wish they still made the bagged Contour and Smart Vac. As far as their bagless uprights, those were DARK days for Eureka. The Altima and Capture's filters clogged almost immediately. Extremely high-maintenance bagless vacuums. The 4D was another disaster.

    So, Eureka did a thing...

I owned one for a minute It's quiet, but mine had a squeal near the floor/tool changeover valve. It's dual-cyclonic, and the system works very well. Although I put it through heavy use, it did an admirable job filtering the dust. I would have liked a longer wand, and better overall tools, but...

    A new ball Mr Dyson?

Looks great! The new hose and wand setup look great. I like that they returned to a setup where the handle grip releases along with the wand, and the new swivel joint looks nifty. When the @#$% are they going to incorporate the self-cleaning shroud into their uprights? They're such a huge...

Full Presentation of the Dyson V10 Unveiling

Agitation and airflow are more important than pure suction. Compared to Dyson's best cleaning uprights, the agitation of the V10 cleaner head is what will hold it back. Although excellent for a cordless, by design, the Dyson cordless vacuums nylon brushes don't protrude outside of the sole...

Full Presentation of the Dyson V10 Unveiling

This new model has the fan on the back of the motor, instead of the front. I'm assuming this was designed to cool the motor and ancillary components as the suction air passes by. The only model Dyson's I've seen with clogged cyclones, are the models that had engineering flaws, which have been...
