Hoover vintage for modern - better or worse?

Jack,   Have you considered a Royal metal upright similar to this one. It cleans as good or better than a Kirby but is lighter because there is no transmission. The brushroll has brush stiffeners which act just like the Hoover beater bars did. This machine uses disposable bags but can be...

Ben, what is the main reason why you are doing this conversion? Just curious.   ~Stan

    More airflow tests.

The Baird meter was not designed or intended to make scientific measurements! This tool was designed merely to make general comparisons in airflow between different vacuum cleaners.   It is true that most bagless vacuum cleaners generate high suction but very little airflow where most bagged...

    D80 older generation lights

Les, the headlight on a D80 should come on when you press the power switch, even if the floor nozzle or hose are not attached.

    Kirby

Congratulations Brad,   You found yourself a fantastic vacuum! You will find that nothing cleans like a Kirby.   The Kirby Diamond edition was produced during 2003 to 2005. The Diamond Edition is the ONLY Kirby to have a speed selector switch which effectively gives you 4 speeds, two...

    New Dyson Light Ball

"I am NOT going to buy a Shark, Dyson or ANY other bagless vacuum cleaner. "   Neither will I!  I share that same opinion!

    New Dyson Light Ball

This new Dyson is the same as all previous models - It is Junk just like every other plastic bagless vacuum. The cleaning ability is just mediocre due to it's flawed BAGLESS design.   Dyson's sell because of their shiny futuristic looks, but they soon get replaced when the cyclone and...

Kirby Complete Model Change or Just Another Color Change?

As I've said before and now I'll say it again:   Kirby will not release a totally new cleaning system design until they can invent one with equal to or better performance than the Avalir. They will not release a new design that has substandard performance. Therefore, I believe it may be...

    Which Kirby bag?

Greg,   The quick answer is Yes, the newest Kirby cloth style HEPA bags will fit on your Heritage II Legend. This includes the allergy friendly bags.   You will notice that your H2 will have better cleaning performance than it did with the old style paper bags.

    Kirkby G4 with power drive

Amateursewing:   The squeaking sound you hear when in reverse most likely means that the transmission is getting close to failure due to worn parts internal to the transmission. Since there are no serviceable parts inside the transmission, you may want to replace it before it fails...

Miele new wattage from 1st Sep 2017

Tom,   I think you may have confused Watts with Amps.   The most powerful vacuums in the US are restricted to 12 Amps which is equal to 1440 watts. The formula is:  Volts x Amps = Watts. Therefore 120 volts times 12 amps = 1440 watts.

    kirby legend 2 headlight problem

Nedludd:   The Legend II uses a 120/240 volt headlight bulb.   If the floor nozzle or hose is not attached to the powerplant, the Headlight will not turn on when you push the power switch. Instead the small red Power Light located on top of the powerplant just behind the headlight...

I need help choosing a new vacuum

Kirby vs Miele Caleb,   Keep in mind the Miele is a Heavy machine weighing about the same as a G model Kirby but the Kirby is much easier to push because it is self propelled and the Miele is not.   The Kirby's cleaning performance is much better than the Miele.   The Kirby can...

Significance of 50 Foot Cord and Super Wide Nozzle Beyond Commercial Use?

The shakeout bag system on the earlier Kirby's (pre G3) is not really that much pain to use. These Kirby shakeout systems use an Emptor where most of the heavier dirt and small objects collect.   Shaking the bag causes all of the lighter dust, dirt and pet hair to fall down into the emptor...

    Thinking about an Oreck

Adam,   Tom is correct. Don't get an Oreck if you need a deep cleaning vacuum. The Oreck's fan is very small and it has a fairly soft brushroll. It does not produce enough airflow and agitation to deep clean. The Simplicity and Riccar that Tom mentioned above are much better choices.  ...

Kirby - Researching to buy my first Kirby

Vacuumguy91:   Don't pay any attention to AlexHoovers94 as he doesn't know what he is talking about. No other brand of vacuum cleaner can clean your carpets better than a Kirby except possibly a 10 amp Royal.   I would recommend getting the newest Kirby you can afford because the newer...
