    1959 Desoto Firesweep Sweepy

Hi Michelle, You look great in the photos. I had a '58 Plymouth Savoy many years ago, but I never got it on the road. Good luck with your projects, and please keep posting updates on here, as it is very interesting to see how you are getting on. Robin.

"A Rose By Any Other Name"

In England, any type of vacuum cleaner is referred to as a hoover. Operating a vacuum cleaner is known as hoovering. Robin.

How Do You Explain You’re Into Vacuums Cleaners ?

It is a great shame that admitting to having a collection of vacuum cleaners usually causes a reaction of shock and horror. Women are generally worse than men, and they normally dislike the idea of any type of collecting, other than shoes or handbags. I think that collecting in general is...

Columbus mark III vacuum and polisher find

I am afraid that I know absolutely nothing of the history of this machine. This is actually an s32 model. The serial number is 7 300107 It runs on 200/250 Volts, 400 Watts. I would be grateful if you could tell me any more about it. Thanks, Robin.

The complete history of the Hoover Junior

It would be great if, between us, we could compile a list of all versions of the Hoover Junior. I have attached a photo of some of my Juniors. This is nowhere near a complete set. Robin.

    Vintage Vacuum identity?

I have got a similar machine stored away somewhere, and I will see whether I can dig it out. I seem to remember that it is labelled as a Trojan. I believe that I have seen them with other names. Robin.

    How much restoration is acceptable?

I have to admit that I tend to be the other extreme. I would, generally, rather see a tatty original machine than one that has been painted. That, of course, depends upon the condition of the machine when you get it, and each case has to be judged on it's merits. Obviously, I try to buy...

How Do You Read Hoover Serial Numbers?

I am afraid that I don't know the exact date of your machine, but the Model 262 was introduced in 1939, and ceased production in 1949. Bear in mind though, that production was interrupted by the war, so the 262 was not actually made for as long as the dates would suggest. I hope that this...

    The Age of Future's Past

I am delighted to hear that you are making progress with the '56 Chevy. I would like a swimming pool full of that rust converter. Robin.

    My GPO Rotary Telephone Collection

That is a nice looking phone. Topaz yellow is a lovely colour. It is a shame that the range of colours from the GPO and BT was fairly limited. Robin.

    My GPO Rotary Telephone Collection

I love the look of those Princess phones. Does anyone know whether they can easily be wired for use in the UK? Robin.
