For those with a Vintage Phone Interest...

More Strowger Sadly, I can't edit my posts... :-( Having now followed the 'link' (which I won't normally do) and having watched the video, I was surprised that the Engineer was able to read out the caller's number without visiting the Uniselector racks or Linefinder records... Maybe things...

For those with a Vintage Phone Interest...

Strowger I've traced calls on Strowger equipment.... Kept one fit in a multi-floor exchange. Those were the days!!! I still have a couple of Strowger switches. ;-) All best Dave T

Free to a good home (U.K.)

Opinions, please.... I have found a few more 'bits' which will be 'free to a good home' (subject to collection or coverage of postage fees). No complete machines, just odd wands, hoses, accessories, etc. In most (if not all) cases I have no idea which machines they are proper to. Question...

    Vintage European machines..

Weird coincidence This afternoon, while 'channel surfing' at my Good Lady's house, I spotted a modern copy of this type of spraygun on one of the 'shopping channels' being used with it's 'pump' (a vacuum cleaner motor arranged to blow) to spray a fence panel... What an amazing new invention...

    Vintage European machines..

Vintage accessory My memory was 'jogged' somewhat by the picture of the 'accessories box' in Reply#20, and I had a look around.... I have a 'spraygun' accessory, similar to the one in the bottom of the box shown in that picture, but it is branded 'Electrolux'. It appears to be complete, and I...

Wiring up an old Bayonet Plug

Bayonet adaptor From the photographs, it looks like you've got half of a 5amp two-pin plug to bayonet adaptor there. Is it properly insulated when assembled?? It looks to me like half of the bakelite is missing. Wires either way, it predates earthing in most domestic premises.... If your...

    What do YOU consider Vintage..

Free to a good home (U.K.)

Postal service Glad you got them eventually, Joe..... I have to say that I am shocked to hear that our postal service has deteriorated to such a degree. I paid over the odds (£3) for '1st Class' postage, and it has still taken 5-6 days..... What is the World coming to????? Has anyone else had...

    What do YOU consider Vintage..

Vintage/antique How's this for a 'rule of thumb'.... 'Vintage'.... Anything with more metal than plastic in it's construction. 'veteran/antique'... Anything with NO plastic in it's construction.. Just good ol' metal, cloth, rubber, and bakelite. Just a thought.. ;-) Dave T P.S. Thanks for...

    Vintage European machines..

Dudley Junior Thanks for the info/pics Vacbear/ChesterMike.... Still can't be sure, but certainly looks very much like it (as 40 year old memories go) :-( I have a small, round, wooden bodied brush somewhere, but that wasn't from my mother's cleaner, it was from an old cleaner from a G.P.O...

    Vintage European machines..

General reply Collector2/ChesterMike.. Mine says 'National Utilities, Manchester, England'.. But, of course, that may mean nothing (it says 'Oxo' on the sides of 'buses, but they don't sell them.. ;) ). Mike... Does the mains lead unplug from that 'Dudley Junior'??? It looks as close as...

    Vintage European machines..

Henry At risk of hijacking a 'Vintage' thread....... All I can say (regarding longevity) is that the 'Henry' featured in my photographs was purchased (used) by my mother at the beginning of 1992. It has outlasted her, and is still going strong, though it is not my 'daily drive' now. I am...

HEPA Bags-Are They Worth The Price?

Cloth bags Firstly - probably a 'dumb' question, but.... I assume 'HEPA' is an acronym, however I have no idea what it 'stands for'..... Secondly - Two of my 'vintage' machines have 'cloth bags'... Isn't it wonderful how fashions turn full-circle in the end??? ;) All best Dave T
