Aargh! How did I miss this one?

Don't you just *hate* it when an Ebay listing passes you by? I guess just about everyone else in the UK missed it too. Ah well, you can't begrudge someone a bargain, I guess... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290075636760

New in box Hoover Floor washer

Well won Mark, I saw that myself and was tempted! It wasn't until this one came up that I realised they'd been sold in some European countries (not the UK though). Have you tried it out yet, or are you keeping it in unused condition? I love the fact that it uses solid soap and not a liquid...

    How much!?!?

I know these cleaners are rare, but this must be one of the most insane prices I've ever seen... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20617&item=270081690414

    Rebuilt Hoover Junior?

Curiouser and Curiouser... Wonder if it's partly based on recons though - that looks like a Junior metal handle to me! I think I would be tempted to buy one if it was cheap enough, just because it's so odd! You can't beat the original though... Si

    Another Ebay purchase.....

Very nice Saw that myself, but I've already spent too much this week - plus I have to persuede the other half that a HMDL is just what we need in the flat! I've got a 119, but the paint is knackered after I stored it somewhere damp, sadly. Si

    Rebuilt Hoover Junior?

That is bizarre! A British made Hoover Junior ripoff sold in the States? I am quite agog at this thing...

    Hoover Licensing

That makes sense, Petek, and also goes some way to explaining why my 1932 750 was built in Canada - I thought it was just so that it could be 'Empire Built' as the badge says, and hadn't thought about any financial reason behind it.

    Hoover Licensing

How interesting! I've seen non-vacuums made by other companies with Hoover branding (mixers, cooker hoods and shavers in the UK; an washer/dryer combo from the USA), but never a Hoover cleaner made by someone else! I guess New Zealand wasn't big enough to have a Hoover plant of its own, but I...

    dial-a-matic power drive

I love the Power Drives, When I'd first fixed the drive on mine (missing bearing), I was quite disappointed, as the drive wasn't as powerful as I'd expected. But using it back to back with a standard DAM type, you really notice the difference! I find my standard DAM quite a tiring machine to...

Here is my new HOOVER Dustette

Dustettes Tom, yours are very cute, and I must say the colours on the Canadian model are especially nice. Are both built at Perivale? Patrick - if yours has a polished nozzle and a black body, it is probably an earlier one, built to match the 700/725 etc. Early ones have a rocker switch, and...

    My New Juniors!

For Clark... Here's a pic of of my U1016 next to my freshly cleaned up U1012. It's a bit noisier than a lot of my other Juniors due to the 220v motor, but runs nicely enough for me. Unusually, the headlamp bulb still worked when I got it! Sorry I outbid you on the Littlewoods :-) But I had to...

    A Hoover Tease!

Wow... You were so lucky with that 475! It's amazing that a cleaner stored outside for so long buffed up so nicely. My first 750 had been stored somewhere damp, although maybe not outside, and the agitator 'rack' was seized solid. Despite all the WD40 and brute force I applied, all I ended up...

    My New Juniors!

I had to shout at my partner the other day, for putting a very heavy leather motorcycle jacket on my 652, which pushed the bag down! No respect, some people :-) Austin, I saw your U1025 on AW.org, it's a beautiful machine, especially with that plaid bag! I remember a really good thread on AW...

    Speed of Hoovering

Cleaning efficiency/motor power Charles, I've always suspected that the ever-increasing power of vacuum motors is pretty pointless. After all, how heavy is dust? Part of the problem lies in the increased filtration of modern cleaners, with their multi-stage HEPA jobbies. These seem to restrict...

    A Hoover Tease!

Is the top cleaner a 475? It's gorgeous! All that orange detailing, and the nicest dirtfinder lamp of a pre-150 model (in my opinion). My inital though with the bottom one is that it's a rebuilt 700 too, (no orange motor band, but IBAISAIC presumably makes it post-1926), but the four rivets...

    My New Juniors!

I just wanted to show these off after getting them today! I won the one on the right from a friend who'd put it on Ebay, and also got the one on the left from him. The one on the left is a standard U1012, built in March 1976 - it was trade-in (he works in a repair shop), and just look at how...

    Hoovers in action...

Thank you Jack/Austin! I'm looking forward to your other cleaners, Jack! I hope that more people post their cleaners - personally, I'd like to see an Areo-Dyne, Decade 80 and Concept One in action! Hint, hint...

    Hoovers in action...

Great idea to put some of your Hoovers on Youtube, jack! I've followed suit with some of mine, although they're a wee bit newer than yours! And the quality on mine isn't great, as I have to rely on my shonky old webcam. Ah well... http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=lswrsi

Hoover Concept that came in today....

Just wondering do DAMs do that as well? I bet it sounded (and smelled) hideous when switched on!

    Last Australian General Electric upright

I'm sure the GE was badged as a Philips in the UK - a very similar looking machine in orange and brown appeared on Ebay UK a while back. I remember thinking how similar the hood looked to the Hoover Ranger. I'm sure GE and Philips weren't connected in any way though. Odd... The Pye is...
