Simon drags himelf into the 1990s...

Hey Tom, the best thing about this cleaner is that there are glitter flakes in the plastic! A very camp touch. Mark, thanks for the offer! I was having a look on spare part websites, it's such a novelty to own a cleaner where you can still get so many bits! I'd argue that the cleaners in your...

Simon drags himelf into the 1990s...

But after a wipe down, she looks in very good shape! Very little scuffing - this picture doesn't do her any justice. The tools are missing and the lower cord hook has snapped, but other than that she's lovely. Don't suppose anyone has any spare nozzles knocking around? Funnily enough, I found a...

Simon drags himelf into the 1990s...

It's one of the short lived Hoover Turbopower Freedoms, a bagless machine so leaky that in the end Hoover offered a kit to allow it to use paper bags. That might explain why this unconverted example is so filthy - bear it mind it got a bit of a rinse on the way to my car thanks to a cloudburst...

Simon drags himelf into the 1990s...

... June 1991 to be exact! When I went out to pick up various bits and bobs today, I couldn't resist popping into an area of Bournemouth notorious for its many charity shops. I only visited one, and look what I found!

    Kirby bargain!

Loving this thread! I'd been working on my Hoover 750 with gallons of Brasso, and not getting anywhere fast. Treated myself to some wire wool and Autosol metal polish, and she has finally started coming up nicely! Now all I have to do is change the flex, patch the bag, derust it, touch up the...

    Hoover Dynamatic U5012

Hey Mark, That's a beautiful Dynamatic! Looks similar to the European U5002/5010 (I think the difference there was merely whether or not you got tools with it), but yours looks nice with the Seal Greige bits, which Euro machines didn't have by then. Nick, I think what Mark is getting at is...

    Some Hoover Vault Finds...

Hey Tom, I can't believe TTI has desecrated the vault like that! Thank heavens that there's someone with your dedication to have saved all of these. The Hoover Gods must be greatful to you! Si

Ok.. now these are fabulous commercials!

Hehehe Glad everyone seems to likey! There are more, but I've just moved, and have to go to my mum's to use the 'net for now, so... watch this space! Si

    My Ebay win :)

I wonder if it's a commercial model? The orange and black suggests that to me. They're very odd, I don't think I've ever seen one of these listed in a UK brochure, but some seem to have made it over! Hoover UK seemed hell bent on flogging the Hooverette, even though no-one wanted 'em! Si

A Hoover Christmas Treat for everyone!

I hope it's OK to put this on Youtube, I'm not sure who dug it out, but if anyone wants it removed I will do so! It's a Christmas 1959 or 1960 (I think) commercial for Hoover in the UK. Hope everyone enjoys, and I think the final sentiment in the advert is something those of us with our vintage...

This Hoover The One doesn't sound well...

    Junior Page: New, Improved!

hey Jack, Thanks for your update, I never knew the 375 and 119 were Dreyfuss designs. I guess the 1334 was as well? Great research as ever :-) Si

Model 960 Cleaning Ensemble transplant surgery!

I wonder if the one on the 960 is a replacement part? The theory being that the engineer should have stamped the details on it when it was replaced. I suspect that's why it has blank panels instead of the ratings being part of the design.

    Okay...let's see your DREYFUSS machines!

Hey Si, Yes, the toolkit with your 6525C is an earlier one - the main giveaway is the metal clips on the rods, which were replaced by plastic ones in the mid sixties. Also, from 1968, the convertor pan was permanently attached to the hose, with no facility to blow. Later hoses are also shorter...

Yep! Not replied to it yet, but that would be great if you can come down before I head west!

    Hoover Classic 427 1978

Hey Ian, Both those colours on the 427 were available here too, the red one was the standard from 1970 to 1973, and the mustardy one was built in the later 1970s as a special here I think - I notice Tommy's are from 1972 and 1977 respectively. Tommy, it's always nice to see more of your...

Model 960 Cleaning Ensemble transplant surgery!

That's great, and how perfect you've got a machine to clean up after the hordes of Christmas guests! There's something a bit growly about these machines I love. Just mind those fingers! When I saw you insert them into the nozzle to start the 960 I cringed! And as for the bloody fingernail...

    Connie Disaster!

Ian, what did you lube the bearings with? I've had a junior do that before, but it was fine with new bearings. Maybe what you've used was too viscous? Or is it just all black and charred? Hope you get her going, if the armature is fine, I think new bearings are still around! Si
