Wirecutter (aka NY Times) article about vacuum enthusiasts.

Kind of what I expected. The authors have the right idea but missed a lot of good, possibly better uprights from Lindhaus, Cirrus, Titan, Aerus, Perfect, Sebo (just me but I much prefer the G4 / G5 to the Felix ) and even the Hoover Hushtone. And on the canister vac side no mention of the...

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

The original factory in Greenwich CT was closed in the late 1980s or maybe very early 1990s. The debate on this thread is over where the Legacy and Classic are made today. Some here maintain, and a crazy newspaper article seems to back the claim that Aerus closed the Bristol VA plant in 2003...

BrandSpark Canadian Trust Study of Vacuum Cleaners

Performance Reviews might not be the ideal of an unbiased reviewer of vacuum cleaners. He kind of lost me on one of his reviews of a recent Aerus product where he took the exhaust filter out and ran his finger on the inside of the motor housing where there was some carbon dust. To him this was...

How to remove cat urine from carpet with carpet cleaners?

The enzyme cleaners are the way to go. Spray it on as soon as possible after your fur baby pees. Works on vomit too after you wipe the chunks off with a damp towel. We have cats and dogs and one of our dogs used to mark all the time ........... until our old female dog passed. Apparently she...

How do I remove the fan cover on my Bissell Powerforce (71Y7)?

Smack the outside edge of the cover with a hard plastic mallet. Hit it at roughly 90 degree intervals. Watch how this guy does it.

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

Paul, I have not heard back from Aerus yet and wouldn't expect anything till later next week at least but I did find an article that I think came from the Bristol newspaper by a, cough cough, journalist named Lewis Loflin who wrote: "By 2003 Electrolux was shuttering its Bristol plant claiming...

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

I have one of those Excalibur Megas in dark green. Weirdly made but interesting and nice to use vacuum. I can use it with the longer Swedish Electrolux hose from something like my D795 and use it with a Ze3 power nozzle, which is very quiet. Much nicer to use it that way than with that noisy...

    Eureka Excalibur Canister 6975

Oh man, this is an old but interesting thread. I am weird for the Electrolux Group sources Eureka and Sanitaire canisters and have all but the Excellio based model. They are pretty nice equipment, mostly better than the plastic body Eurekas designed in the US. One of those Excellio based...

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

I e-mailed Aerus to ask about the March 2003 plant closure article in that newspaper article. When / if I hear back I'll report whatever they tell me. I also asked about their current production.

Hoover Anniversary Windtunnel Supreme or Royal Cleanseeker ProSeries Rebadge

Maytag never made vacuum motors. They are both Chinese made motors from different vendors but for my money, unless someone can show me actual performance data that shows the motor from the Maytag branded version is clearly better ( higher suction and airflow) which this video does not show...

    (1988) Eureka 630D 4 amp upright vacuum.

Looking at that ad I am reminded how Eureka went from making some of the best canister vacuums sold, those big steel body 1700 series machines and then seemed to lose the thread when they switched to using plastic for their canister model bodies. Hoover, Kenmore and Electrolux managed the...

Anyone else think the pre "ball" Dysons had better Bin/Cyclone designs?

No mention of what broke on the Kirby but they are far from indestructible. The Neutral Drive mechanism is prone to wear and need replacement often. Some new Kirby's like ours came with inadequate lubrication on the rear axle that prevented that moving gear from fully disengaging from the cam...

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

Sorry but that new release doesn't align with what people who have been in the Bristol plant have told me. They were making Tristars there until late 2022. They ceased production when they used up the last of the magnalite castings from 2019. I just spoke to my friend in Tennessee. I...

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

Oh yes! In fact, weird as this probably sounds, those Swedish and Hungarian made Electrolux Group vacuums sold here as Eureka and Sanitaire models are a major part of my collection. A clean Excellio based Eureka Europa ( S6997 I think is the model ? ) is way up there on my Holy Grail list. I...

What's the difference? Didn't these have an Ametek motor in them?

Nilfisk GS80 (I think) - looking for hose

I don't know which model you have but there are plenty of Nilfisk hoses on eBay. Many on-line vac shops sell them too. Many Nilfisk canister models use the same hose as 1970s and 1980s Swedish Electrolux canister vacs. Really common part.

N106M Power Head voltage to run

These need 110-120 volt AC. Buy a short replacement power cord from a hardware store. Strip back the ends opposite the plug and attach some alligator clips to the free ends (crimp and/or solder depending on the alligator clip design). Clip the alligator clips on to the contacts on the neck...
