    Rare Singer??

And this was just a few years before Matsushita Panasonic of Japan bought the Whirlpool vacuum factory in Danville. So by 1992, lots of Japanese companies were major players in the North American vacuum market.

    Rare Singer??

Just FYI….the Japanese Ryobi company bought Singer in 1988. Which meant they took over the Singer vacuum factory at that time as well.

    Happy Canada Day!

That Baycrest "Selectomatic" Hoover is "merveilleux"! So unique! They even squeezed in the name "Baycrest" into the spot where the round Hoover logo disc would have sat!

    Happy Canada Day!

Thanks Paul!!! To add another dimension to the celebration, pictures of vacs rebranded for our venerable Eaton’s and The Bay department stores would be most welcome. We saw plenty of Canadian Eurekas and Hoovers and Reginas rebranded as Eaton Viking, Baycrest and Beaumark over the decades...

Eureka 1756A Brochure - Prototype Power Nozzle?

Love these early Eureka Power teams! This one has the more comfortable and safer hose handle, too.

    Eureka Tank Vacuums

Hi Paul!!! I actually think the motor exhaust moved to the rear earlier than that. The 1965 Empress already had a rear facing exhaust grill. And a unique inverted motor made by General Electric if I remember correctly. The fan faced the bottom and the suction was drawn in from the top over...

    1968 Eureka Vanguard TV Commercial

Actually, now that I think about it more…it was the daily broadcast of The Price is Right and Match Game on CBS.

    1968 Eureka Vanguard TV Commercial

I loved that TV commercial! I was able to record the audio of it on an early 1970’s Sanyo audiocassette recorder. I kind of knew which daytime tv show (probably a game show like The Newlywed Game) it would air on and I set a timer to turn on the machine for an hour at a certain time of day...

    Eureka Tank Vacuums

In the UK, all canister vacs are called cylinder vacs.

Vintage appliance household lover saying hello.

Welcome Santi! You are definitely going to need a vintage 1950’s Regina Elektrikbroom to hang in your broom closet! Most suburban homes in North America had one!

    Christian Klingspor Eureka

Eureka! I found it! At about the same time, Home Depot began selling special edition Hoovers with the name “Farrington” emblazoned on the models!!!

    Christian Klingspor Eureka

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Hoover may have countered this Eureka initiative with a designer series of their own during the same time period. Hoover experts?

    Hello from Canada

Welcome fellow Canadian! My focus has always been on Eureka vacuums because I grew up with a Canadian-made blue 260 upright in the 1960’s. Learning about Eureka’s Canadian connections really re-enforced my obsession over the years. Eureka’s founder Fred Wardell was a Canadian from Toronto...

What's the consensus on 90s and 00s Eurekas?

My fave Eureka from the 2000’s: The Eureka SmartVac upright with the shortcut diverter for carpet cleaning and full size onboard World Vac tools. Easy to change bag too!!!

Any info on GE Cleaner AVT701?

My parents’ first vacuum was similar. It’s from the late 1940’s early 1950’s. The only thing that seems to be missing is the plastic upholstery nozzle.

Current Fleet for my Current Place

Sounds nice….I guess you could use the supplied upholstery nozzle on the end of the wand to clean far under furniture if necessary. The website shows a nice wide upholstery nozzle included in the tool set.

    New Innovative Dyson FluffyCones PencilVac

Wow!!! It is a knock-off of a Panasonic design!!! I miss seeing Japanese vacs in our stores here in North America….

I like that Rose Gold Kenmore Intuition upright…especially since you can shut off the brushroll for bare floor cleaning. How well does it perform? Is it easy to use?

    Eureka upright find

Here is YouTuber “Konstellation Karl” showing the full line up of the green Continental series - see link below. He claims they are from 1978. Thanks for this video Karl!!! 🙏

    Eureka upright find

Love these “Continental” Eurekas with that sleek rounded motor hood! The cool thing about this design: the name “EUREKA” lights up along with the headlight when the motor is turned on!!! I think this series came out in 1976 or 1977 if I am not mistaken. Maybe 1978?
