Great Choice I have a Bolero (black) and I think this is the most innovation that vacuums have seen in 50 years. The design is almost flawless. My only gripe is that the nob on the hepa filter screen sticks up and is somewhat sharp causing scratches and nicks on chairs and other low to the...

What is your favorite Vintage Hoover?

Ahh That explains it. That box caddy which was used with the early convertibles also, was not very durable, so it might explain why we don't see them often. But your photo shows why the 64 is my personal favorite. The pre-convertible line went out with a bang in this model. And interesting that...

What is your favorite Vintage Hoover?

Thanks Fred!! I've admired your photos for quite some time, especially your Kirby photos, but this is about Hoover. Evidently the 64 didn't come with a tool caddy? Every photo I have ever seen of them did not include the caddy. My aunt had a 64, but she did not believe that uprights had any...

What is your favorite Vintage Hoover?

29 , 64 I think these pre-Convertible models deserve mention as they not only ditched the industrial brown and grey colors, but were downright hot. 64 had a warmth about it. Sorry for no photos, but I don't have these models. Have only admired them from afar.

    IS TTI dead?

Thank Goodness!! Wouldn't this have been a terrible thing??? I thought I saw a picture on this site sometime this week that said that most housewives prefer Hoover??

    Floormate

I upgraded to the US Hoover version of this this same model, even the same color and the motor sounds the same. I had the original one and I have to say that I really missed the finger tip control for switching between scrub and vacuum mode. This one is on the base and it isn't as conveniently...

    2 new vintage hoovers

Hoover Badge It's really a shame how much was lost in the exact same machine from the large badge to the decal Hoover emblem. And yet that comparison is an embarrassing triviality compared to the small decal emblem models to what Hoover is today. :(

    kirby, what the ?

    I'm surprised this is allowed.

    Miele S7 Hose Problem

I just can't believe that such a flawlessly designed (seemingly) vacuum had this happen. I have an S7 Bolero that continues to impress me more and more as I own it. Like you, Vacfanatic, I also own a Kirby Diamond, which I consider the gold standard, but from the standpoint of a new style vacuum...

    Kirby G Series machines

2 speed switch I have a Diamond edition model with the 2 speed switch, a feature that I use all the time and think was a great asset. I would have to assume that Vintage Hoover is correct because the 2 speed switch is designed to lower the speed for throw rugs, etc, not raise it. The Kirby...

    Miele S7

I am surprised at how little I have seen about the Miele S7 upright here. What do others that have one think of these at this point? I have the Bolero. I could share a photo, but it is just the basic black model that we have all seen. I was a total Hoover (original Convertible) and Kirby...

    New Hoover Platinum Bagless

Handheld I have the new Platimum Handheld and I really like it, though pricey for that type of machine and I have to say that the linx rechargeable battery charge does not last nearly as long as my previous Hoover Wet/dry hand held that I dropped and broke recently. I do like the crevice tool...

The Hoover Junior in the U.S.A.

Above Floor Cleaning :) I (as a U.S. Child) always admired these machines in the mid 60s. It always appeared as a total machine for me, so I am not surprised to hear that the tool suction was at least decent. I am a Convertible nut and am still bitter at Hoover for marketing such a legendary...

Dusting Tools performance Just curious, how was the performance of the dusting tools? Chris

The Hoover Junior in the U.S.A.

Hey Vintagehoover I believe I read that on Wikipedia and stand by my source as any devout vacuum researcher would do.... LOL. Sorry. I am out of my league on this subject and you are surely right. This machine always fascinated me because I was a child during the brief time (mid 60s) when these...

The Hoover Junior in the U.S.A.

Electricity I was under the impression that these were built in the U.K. and sent to North Canton for the electrical system to be converted for US. These had floor switches which US Hoovers never had and I was told that was a requirement in U.K.

    Hoover Timeline Question

More please I apologize for redundancy when I know this has been asked on this board again and again. This looks good, but has anyone ever assembled a complete listing for Hoover U.S. models? Since I've been here, when this was asked, Fred (Hoovercelebrity)'s collection is always shown, but is...

    63, 64?? Didn't the 63 and 64 "Citation" use these also?

what vacuum would you get if...

Interesting question!! I grew up in a Hoover house and all my relatives had similar versions of the late 50s / early 60s Hoover Convertible. In my house, we later had a Decade 800 before I moved out, so I have to believe that I would continue to go with a Hoover product of some sort. I probably...

Here is one of my babies..

Logo Plate Does anyone know what year or on what model they changed the Hoover Logo on the base from the metal plate to the smaller (and far less permanent) decal? I am thinking it couldn't have been very long after this (1966). Never quite felt the same about the models with that cheap decal...
