Picked up this beauty today for $20. But I heard that its called a coffee can hoover. I can't find the model #, on the back it says motor #. Is that it?

I used black electric tape, works good.

I wrapped some tape around the hose until I can get a new hose, works great now.

It's the hose, sounds like a couple of holes in it. Took the hose off and suction is great.

Found this Electrolux at a thrift store for $3.00. Suction is not good right now, I plan on taking it apart soon and cleaning it up real good, any advice would be great. Thank you.

Is there something I can do about the scratches? Sandpaper? 1,000 grit?

I also need a new belt, the paper work that came with the vacuum says part # 43260 A. I have a Royal belt part # 672260 001 that I got for my other Royal vacuum, will that one be ok?

Started taking the 606 apart today, washed out the bag, very dirty. The brushes need to be replaced soon, I could only get one of the caps off for the brushes, the plastic cap is falling apart. I need new plastic caps for the brushes and new brushes. Also, I put oil in the bearing ports.

I love my 501, perfect for getting dog hair off the couch and vacuuming stairs. I think you are right, I wanted the fan to fit and I wanted to use it so bad that I was doing something stupid wrong.

Yep, the fan went right on this morning, I was doing something wrong. The 501 works great now.

Wow! I don't know what I was doing wrong but I tried putting the metal fan on this morning and it went on, the belt shaft went on just fine. Sorry everyone, but thank you all for helping me.
