    Shark's Oreck Counterpart?

I have one of those Sharks, it was a gift from my buddy Phillip. I haven't turned it on in quite some time, but I remember thinking it wasn't a bad little vac at the time. It was not as loud as an Oreck, I do remember that, and if memory serves me..lol..that's a stretch, I think I used a Kenmore...

Help, Kenmore Direct Drive brush roll spinning backwards..

I have the purplish first one Kenmore version. I ordered a NOS brushroll from ebay, and it rolled backwards as well. I took it out to my friends vac shop, and she switched a couple of wires and was good to go. I think she had seen that issue before, she just knew what to do. I on the other hand...

    Best filtration Hoover/Dirt Devil Bags.

I would go with Envirocare bags, only available at a vac shop or online. I've never been disappointed in any of their bags for any brand I can get them for.

Compatible GE Roll-Easy R1 Floor Tool

Got muscle? I had one of these but could not use it on my plush carpeting due to the commercial old-time nature of this vac...but this one is in exceptional condition as was mine. I sold mine at a convention years ago...

    Singer Durabuilt Vacuum

I don't have an answer for the original question, but I can tell you I have that same vacuum in red and it's badged Singer. It's in great shape and actually a very decent carpet cleaner. I have never tried to use the hose/tools, not a fan of the setup, and can't imagine it being much better than...

    Rekindled love....

I was going to do some heavy duty cleaning today and wanted to use one vacuum(out of probably 150), to do everything from the carpeting, to cobwebs and vacuuming ceilings. I got out my 1988 Kenmore 4.5 canister which had been serviced probably over a year ago, and stored in a closet. I bought...

Please Don't Ban Me From VacuumLand Because of What I Did.

Oh hell yes.... There has been wayyy worse said on this forum with all the snide comments/innuendos, plain rudeness etc., yet those people keep popping up. Some frequently, some once in a while.

    Opinions on Oreck XL's

Devin, that amount in the bag after a week shows that Orecks are viable cleaners. There are so many haters out there that bash the brand. When I worked at the Oreck store, people would bring them in and they weighed 15lbs. instead of 8, they'd set it up on the platform, and say "it's not pickin'...

    Controling A Connie...

Yup, watcha all said! I had one, hated the attachment end of the hose, the cheap above floor tools, along with nipping at my heels. Oddly the one thing I did like was the turbo rug nozzle. I didn't keep it, I bought it for a song and sold it to a friend of mine for the same song, and he loves...

    New to me Royal 886

Great find, anything bigger than the 6 amp. motor on Royals are screamers! Does the brushroll have the plastic brush "stiffners" on each side of each brush strip? I have an early 90-ish 9000, and it does a great job on my plush carpets. You might visit a vac shop for bags, Envirocare makes a...

    Mini-meet at Phillips

You got some nice machines there! Generous collectors are the best, knowing from experience Phillip rarely shows up here without a vac or two for his host! I had a Premier years ago that same color, but the power nozzle was a Filter Queen type...guess at one point they got a better deal from...

Eureka 960 hose help needed :-)

A couple I used to hang with in my hometown (Peoria, Il.) had one just like this only red interior. Her husband was the top Lincoln salesman in the midwest for years but had connections with other dealers. Her first conversion was a "77 Grand Prix, she always "had to have" a convertible. I think...

Eureka 960 hose help needed :-)

Oh... There's a Cadillac in the picture? LOLOL...ducks and runs. I think that is a 80-ish Biarritz conversion convertible now that I see the car, but may be off.

    Aging and our Vacuum Collections

I hear you loud and clear. Upon my demise, my executor will have the number of a fellow collector to contact and to get here as quickly as can be arranged, and haul them out! I don't want them out on the front lawn at the estate sale! My house is at it's max, totally, and when I'm able and have...

    Sears AD from 1986

1986 ad... I love old ads, thanks Kenny for posting. I had to go check my satellite display room to be sure, but I do have the A model in the background. Can you see how much it was..just curious. Still runs like a top...a very LOUD top! Those Ryboi motors were ear killers. This post was about...

    Opinions on Oreck XL's

It came off the line on the 52nd day of 2012. Very basic Oreck with the switch on the base, shorter cord, and non-hypo-allergenic outer bag. Everything looks to be in good shape. I worked for an Oreck store part time for over 8 yrs. and know how to date the vacuum. Around Christmas these sold...
