    Hoover 475 serial # decoding

Decode it? Any reason? The only thing I can tell you is they all started at 0001001. There was no production date coding at that point.

    Hoover Decade 80 Question

Check that the upper bushing is properly seated. While rotating the motor by hand tap the bushing with a rubber mallet.

Another Hoover found it's way to my home

Low production number...this was before they instituted the date codes. I would guess early 80s.

They dry out over time, causing them to snap easier and be stiffer.

What's the best screw gun for restoring vacs?

I use Milwaukee power tools, but then again I run a Handyman business... For basic and light use a Black and Decker will work fine. Any heavy use and you can expect to spend a pretty penny for a quality drill. I have a 20 year old Milwaukee that works just fine, although it has been through...

Hoover Convertible Special Model 31 Barn Find

They are not the most common Convertible cleaners, but there are other models harder to find, and many easier. Worth 10 times as much? As we like to say on this website, "An item is only worth as much as any damn fool will pay for it." I've owned 4 or 5 of these cleaners, I have two of them...

I want to buy a hardwood floor polisher but need advice

Functionally they are all the same. The earlier metal ones are nicer for buffing as they put more weight on the brushes.

I want to buy a hardwood floor polisher but need advice

All the 3 brush Electrolux buffers up to the current Aerus models use the same pads and brushes. They just attach differently (twist on now, snap on before), but they are compatible.

    Question about Hoover Brushroll

I know I tried it, but perhaps I'm confusing it on a non self propelled machine. I've spent the last few nights out plowing snow, and the days at work, so my mind is a jumble. I'll give it a try a d tell you.

    Question about Hoover Brushroll

No, they wont fit. I'll look in the attic, I think I threw a few up there.

Does anyone hot rod their Vacs?

Just as I never liked hot rodded cars, I dont care too much for hot rodded vacs. Performance enhancements I don't mind, but some of the cosmetic ones drive me insane. For example, I followed a formula from a friend, and put a PowerSurge Hoover High Performance motor in a trashed model 70. I...

    Electrolux Model GH (Turquoise)

Those filters have been out of production for ages. I'm going to attempt to make my own replacement for my Hospital-G.

1955 called. They want their Lewyt back.

I would think the fact that it can be pulled and pitched easily. No rolling a rubber band or a spring and pinching to hold the dirt. Just drop it in the trash and pop on a new one with ease.

    Electrolux with wooden case?

That specific case was for the salesmen to carry the lot in one hand, not struggle with a canister, hose, and tools. It provided neat presentation.
