On the Hoover its a bolt with a wing nut. On the Air Way its a flathead screw. But I would leave that intact and just eat the shipping cost. Trying to remove the handle usually leads to the cast aluminum cracking.

I've removed one once. It was held in with a perfectly sized, twisted bit of bailing wire pushed onto the collar. Only way I could remove it was to twist a flathead in the gap between the bag and the collar, and that made a hole in the bag.

It is possible. One bolt and a wing nut will undo the handle. Would be cheapest to send handle in its own tube like box. If you need any help getting one let me know, I’ve bought proxy for people in Canada and Germany before.
