Finally preparing the Vacuum "gallery". Care to see some HOOVERS?

Thank you for coming back to this thread, you know I never tire of seeing those gorgeous appliances!   I have never seen a HOOVER Holiday before, and I've certainly never seen the logo altered so that is fascinating to me.

    Should I?

You had to think about that?  Tsk tsk, if a HOOVER is being offered there is never a question, other than "how much?"

How often do people come across bad power cables on vacuums?

"The cords made today are very poor compared with what was made in the 50s and 60s, Many machines 50 or more years old still have good cords on them, they had cloth around the wires instead of whatever that stuff is now, the rubber covering the wires was much softer too." Indeed, my Hoover 612...

    Hoover 575

"Just IMAGINE what this cleaner has seen." I thought I was perhaps the only one who thought like that!  It is very...  Strange, for want of a better word to look at a vacuum and know that it was around when the world was basically a different place to what it is today.  The stories they could...

    Hoover 575

You can't kill a HOOVER!!  What a beautiful machine you have found - I hope to get a few from the 20s and 30s myself one day, my oldest at the moment is my 612 which was likely manufactured in 1949 and of course it works like brand new, no surprises there.  Although that said I think I need to...

    Duct tape on vacuums

It isn't duct tape, but I do have electrical tape on the power cables of both my '82 Electrolux 502S and HOOVER 119 where the insulation has split but the internal wires are still fine.  It doesn't look as clean as it would with a replaced cable, but I'm not a staunch restorer and I actually...

    Vacuuming questions

"how differently we all do this stuff?" Indeed, it's like everything else though I guess - cooking, driving etc...   As long as we all do it WELL that's the main thing.

That's a beautiful Citation John, and it looks great with the Pixie (or Dustette, as it was marketed in the UK!).   It is interesting that the HOOVER lettering is on the hood above the Hedlite, rather than below it as in the 612, I always thought it looked better below as it was thereby...

    Vacuuming questions

I agree with regards to throwing the bag away at 2/3 full, in fact I usually do it at 1/2!

    Vacuuming questions

<a name="start_29105.325157"></a>1) How do you start vacuuming? Do you turn the machine on first or do you recline the vacuum first? Uprights only. I do both really.   <a name="start_29105.325157"></a>I always turn the machine on BEFORE reclining, in my mind the motor should be able to...

    My 99p Hoover 612...

That's a beautiful 612 you have there Olivier!

    Got a new Floormate!

"<a name="start_28912.323944"></a>Of course,  my collection in rather "concentrated',  being that it is only one brand."   But that is what makes it so unique!  Never change that.

Thank you for all that information Walter!  It is much appreciated.

    Electrolux X1 - Information Wanted!

"What a thoughtful gesture from you co-workers!!!!" Indeed it was.  Unfortunately my feelings towards the company itself (I.E. finding out that they had no legal right to make me redundant when they did) are what they are, but my colleagues were indeed very kind to me.

My Senior sure can beat - as it sweeps - as it cleans...

"no surprise there!!" Indeed not John!  And to think a co-worker (well, ex co-worker now) couldn't believe it when I said that the vintage HOOVERs perform better than modern cleaners.  It really took her by surprise when I said that, which I suppose it would - but "we" know better...

My Senior sure can beat - as it sweeps - as it cleans...

"Lovely vacuum cleaner" It certainly is.  A lot of people dislike the Rangers because they are just standard Seniors/Convertibles with a bulkier hood, but I love them - especially the Harvest Gold (?) colour, very original to the 1970s.

    Sirena.... In the UK :-)

Interesting! I've never used an appliance made (I presume?) in Canada, how is the build quality?

This is the reason I bang on about my Ranger all the time!  My 612 is actually even better than this but as I had the Ranger out at the time I thought I'd just film it.
