    Canister vac curb finds?

I still see a lot of canisters in the thrift stores around here, although most of them are Kenmores that are less than 15 years old. The rest of them are usually either plastic or metal Electrolux, and the occasional Rainbow, Filter Queen, or Tristar. I don’t ever see vintage Hoover or Eureka or...

    Canister vac curb finds?

I see bagless uprights in trash occasionally but have rarely found canisters. I remember as a kid I saw an avocado green and yellow Sears Best canister on the way home from school once (just the hose with it) but my mom wouldn’t pick it up for me as she was embarrassed. lol Then at another...

    New trash find

D Agree good find. I got a 16 gal Craftsman and some attachments a couple of months ago off the curb down street the neighbor had passed away. Then found a Dirt Devil hand vac there a while after.

    Dirt Devil Handvac Curb Sighting

Well this ended up being a funny story. I had intended to grab that hand vac on the way to work, but the next morning it was gone along with all the other stuff they’re me set out. I was a bit disappointed but kind of forgot about it. So tonight, I went for my evening walk and the hand vac...

    Regina electrik brooms

Yes my grandma had one catch on fire once. If you use it often you really need to remove the intake assembly from the main fan/motor housing and clean inside the fan and motor regularly. I think that’s why they would burn up, a lot of people didn’t do that. But I think on the bottom assembly it...

    Dirt Devil Handvac Curb Sighting

My neighbor down the street that threw away that 16 gallon Craftsman a few weeks ago, which I picked up, I noticed had put some more stuff at the curb. One was a Dirt Devil hand vac. If it’s still there on my way to work in the morning (which I imagine it will be), I’ll probably grab it. I...

Looking for information about Kenmore Elite uprights

I remember those older green Intuitjons with the dual brushroll motors, I’ve yet to come across one while thrifting, nor have I come across the newer Shark like version. I did see a silver Elite upright at Goodwill recently, I was tempted but I got an Elitw canister that was there instead. I...

Looking for information about Kenmore Elite uprights

I agree, they are the same. From what I remember hearing, the different colors and model number was done when Kenmore vacuums started being sold at other retailers than Sears, to prevent people trying to return them or get warranty repairs thru Sears. But that doesn’t explain why Amazon one’s...

    Vacuum bags find

Sometimes I find Kenmore HEPA cloth bags in the style Q or O for my uprights or canisters. I usually buy them for $1-3 even if not a full pack. Wayyyy cheaper than getting them online. I’d been wanting to find some Hoover ones for my Windtunnel uprights, and yesterday I lucked out and found a...

Craftsman 16 Gallon Wet/Dry Curb Find

Per the requests… some photos Needs some cleanup, looks like it should clean up well. It definitely needs a new filter. From what I gather, Amazon seems to be a good place to find filters for the older Craftsman. I saw one on there that claims to fit post 1988 Craftsman machines and is even...

Craftsman 16 Gallon Wet/Dry Curb Find

Last night on my walk I saw one of my neighbors had set a Craftsman wet/dry vac on the curb. It was getting dark so I figured if it was still there in the morning I’d take a closer look and possibly grab it. It was, and I did. Looks to be in good shape, I couldn’t find a date on it, but I’d...

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

My grandmother had a Bissell that looked very similar to the one on the left in that first picture, except hers was a light gray or greige color with gray handle, and said either “Bissell 3000” or 2000, don’t recall. She used to use it to clean up threads from seeing, but whenever I’d visit...

Do you remember your household vacs?

    1) early 80s Kenmore mid range Powermate canister that my Parents bought when they got married. 2) mid 80s Kenmore canister that a cousin gave us, that we used along with the other 3) early 80s Hoover Concept One my grandmother gave my mother after she moved, and replaced it with a Hoover Elite...

Does anyone have those days they just want to get done and not fiddle with the vacuum?

Yes, sometimes I just use a broom to sweep the tile floors and shake out the rugs and call it a day. Sometimes I’ll also use my Bissell bagless stick vac for stuff like that, quick and easy.

A few questions about Hoover models using Type A and Z bags

The Type A bags were Hoover’s first “top fill” bag and showed up in the late 1970s on their first Convertibles using that setup. The Type A bags spanned across many models to follow, including Decade, Concept 1 and 2, Conquest, PowerMax and Elite. I don’t know as much about Type Z, I think...

Is there a date code on Kenmore vacuum cleaners?

That could be, I have a Kenmore power nozzle that’s also made by Ryobi/Sunger and it has a similar sticker on it that starts with 92. I assumed that was from 1992. I don’t think the Whirlpool, Panasonic, or Cleva made units have any kind of date sticker, but I’ve heard sometimes the plastic...

    I found a Mighty Mite!

Date If the serial number is like the older Eurekas, the first two digits would be the year. Which would make that from 2015, which seems about right to me.
